Position Summary

As the VDC & Constructability Manager at Auld & White Constructors, you will lead the strategic implementation of Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) processes, constructability reviews, and design coordination efforts that support successful project delivery. In this role, you will collaborate with Operations, Preconstruction, Business Development, design partners, and trade contractors to identify opportunities, mitigate risk, and improve project efficiency through innovative technology and planning. You will serve as the company's subject matter expert on BIM, VDC, and constructability while helping strengthen AWC's reputation for operational excellence and client-focused project delivery.

Position Description

  • Lead the design phase of Design-Build projects by coordinating with architects, engineers, owners, and internal teams to ensure designs align with project budgets, schedules, constructability requirements, procurement strategies, and operational goals.
  • Oversee Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) efforts, including BIM execution planning, model coordination, clash detection, quality control, and implementation of company BIM standards and best practices.
  • Conduct constructability reviews and coordination studies to identify project risks, improve drawing quality, reduce RFIs, and support successful project execution.
  • Develop and present constructability reports while working collaboratively with project teams and design partners to resolve identified issues and improve project readiness.
  • Support preconstruction planning activities, including project logistics, sequencing, procurement planning, scheduling, and operational readiness initiatives.
  • Produce and maintain CAD drawings, BIM models, layout drawings, and technical documentation that support project teams and field operations.
  • Identify opportunities for prefabrication, construction technology adoption, and process innovation that improve project efficiency, quality, safety, and schedule performance.
  • Serve as the organization's subject matter expert for VDC, constructability, and design technology, providing technical leadership and driving best practices across project teams.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, Design Technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 3-5 years of experience in BIM, VDC, design management, or constructability within commercial construction.
  • Proficiency with Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and other construction technology platforms.
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, constructability reviews, coordination processes, and building systems.
  • Experience leading BIM coordination, clash detection, and multidisciplinary design collaboration.
  • Design-Build project experience strongly preferred.
