Job Description
AECOM's Transportation Business Line is seeking an Entry-Level Roadway Design Engineer to be based in Tallahassee, FL. The successful candidate will support the highway design teams in South Florida by working with different disciplines to complete a variety of projects. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with a variety of exciting, challenging projects locally and worldwide.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Assist in the planning, design, and implementation of transportation projects for FDOT and other clients.
  • Assist with work tasks required in preparation of roadway design set of plans.
  • Utilizing CADD to create designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Carry out engineering analyses and prepare reports and technical specifications under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Work collaboratively within project teams to ensure project objectives are met within the defined scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Collect and analyze data, perform field work, and undertake site inspections under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Attend site visits and meetings in clients' offices.
  • Maintain project records and files, contribute to the preparation of progress reports, and communicate project and task updates to team members and supervisors as needed.
  • Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level member.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • EI certification is preferred
  • Transportation related experience preferred.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrate growth potential as well as a desire to learn.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Proficient in Microstation, ORD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or other engineering software packages.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented while still being able to understand and comply with the big picture and goals of a project.
  • Documents time and effort accurately.
  • Interest in transportation infrastructure design.
