Job description

Pay: $19/hr
Schedule: 7am-3:30pm
Location: Hillsboro, OR


Company Overview:
GLISS is hiring a Scale Clerk for a recycling/materials company. This position works in the scale office and helps make sure incoming and outgoing trucks are weighed accurately, records are maintained correctly, and customers receive great service. This is a full-time opportunity for someone who is organized, dependable, comfortable working with numbers, and able to handle a busy office environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate the truck scale and accurately weigh trucks in and out.
  • Record shipment information for tracking, accounting, and accuracy.
  • Perform basic daily bookkeeping, including reconciliation of the daily till.
  • Compile, copy, sort, and file office and business records.
  • Enter, record, and proofread data for accuracy.
  • Maintain and update filing, mailing, and database systems.
  • Communicate with customers and employees to answer questions and provide information.
  • Handle customer concerns or complaints professionally.
  • Answer phones, direct calls, and take messages.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous receptionist or office experience preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented, responsible, and reliable.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to use 10-key by touch preferred.
  • Comfortable performing basic bookkeeping and data-entry duties.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in an office environment and perform repetitive computer and office-machine tasks.
  • Ability to perform light lifting and frequent computer work.
  • Position may require walking, standing, kneeling, twisting, pushing, and pulling.
