The '1099' refers to the IRS tax form used to report income earned by independent contractors in the United States. Remote bookkeepers handle tasks like recording transactions, reconciling accounts, and preparing financial reports, often using cloud-based accounting software. Their services are typically contracted by small businesses or entrepreneurs who need flexible, outsourced bookkeeping support.
