Job Summary

The Production Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating the activities of all production departments through first line supervisors to ensure KPS Global meets quality, productivity, housekeeping, and safety goals. In this role you will lead and coordinate daily operation of production with responsibility for achieving safety, quality, customer satisfaction, and cost effectiveness. Responsible for implementing and driving change in a custom, fast-paced, lean manufacturing environment. Interacts daily with department supervisors/leaders in Operations, Quality, Human Resources, Finance, Materials, Engineering, and Continuous Improvement.

Major Responsibilities

  • Assisting Plant Manager in achieving plant operational goals and participating in developing a lean vision and lean transformation plan by creating a lean culture through continuous improvement to insure a lean vision is communicated
  • Responsible for overall performance of production, including safety, quality, delivery cost and employee engagement.
  • Responsible for the daily management system driving, containment actions and root cause problem solving.
  • Strong floor presence providing coaching, support, and a bias for immediate action.
  • Manage the activities of production supervisor and plant associates to achieve objectives regarding safety, quality, attainment, and cost. Evaluates the performance of associates and completes necessary reports. Recommends merit increases and training/development needs.
  • Supervises the utilization of materials to assure an appropriate number of parts are available to maintain smooth production flow; identifies wasteful practices and methods; reports any problems/concerns with viable solutions to the Plant Manager and reports suggestions recommended by associates for procedure change, etc.
  • Actively lead plant programs and goals, including but not limited to: Safety, Quality, Takt Attainment, Efficiency, and Employee Engagement. 
  • Identify opportunities for improvement; implement improvement plans, lead daily problem-solving activities within teams for process improvements.
  • Provide for effective associate relations within manufacturing by ensuring that employment practices are fair and consistent. Ensure adherence to standard work, including plant work rules, and payroll compliance (if applicable)
  • Implement plant wide communication plans and initiatives with employees in area of responsibility. Serve as primary communication vehicle between leadership team and production employee.
  • Developing value streams and identifying launch areas and timelines
  • Reviewing weekly production schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations and meet ship schedule deadlines
  • Reviewing production and operating reports and resolving operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum cost and prevention of operational delays
  • Implementing a robust 5S and visual workplace program and implementing a standard work process for all production and manufacturing operations
  • Working with Plant Manager to provide leadership and ensure that all safety and ergonomic standards are properly trained and in place; working with management to identify and correct any hazards and provide assistance in worker's compensation administration
  • Engaging in all required HR activities including recruiting, coaching, counseling, performance management, associate development
  • Developing a Kaizen Plan and conducting Kaizen Event
