Job description

OVERVIEW

Perfetti Van Melle (makers of Mentos, Airheads, Dentyne, Trident and Bubblicious!) is one of the world's largest manufacturers and distributors of confectionery and chewing gum with global brands that are being enjoyed in more than 150 countries worldwide. We're currently seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Internal Communications Specialist to join our growing team. 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

As part of the North America Communications team reporting to the Director of Communications, this position primarily focuses on partnering within the N.A. Supply Chain Operations function to understand its culture and needs to be able to advise, develop and implement strategic Supply Chain internal communications. This position serves as the key Communications team link and specialist embedded in the Supply Chain business, culture and people strategies and activities, SC priority programs and everyday operational communications needs. 

By understanding the Supply Chain organization's culture and needs, this position will also tailor and implement internal corporate communication strategies and content that specifically maximize reach and engagement with Erlanger plant/Distribution Center and Rockford shop floor employees, to meet their unique people needs and channels, while aligning and integrating with overall company messages, programs and communications. Successful outputs will aid in the company's success with Supply Chain employee engagement, retention, and culture building. 

In addition to working closely with the Communications Director, they will build a strong partnership with the Associate Manager of Internal Communications, and build trusted working relationships with the Supply Chain senior leadership, plants/Distribution Center site leadership, and site HRBPs/admins.  

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a day-to-day contact and partner with the HRBPs and Operations/Supply Chain managers who work with the hourly workforces to understand needs and ensure alignment with Perfetti Van Melle (PVM) internal communication programs and company priorities and guidelines. 
  • Work with Comms Director, Internal Comms Manager, and Supply Chain partners to find ways to measure and evaluate Supply Chain employee communications, cadences, approaches, and channels for continuous improvement of our communications efforts and programs tailored to the hourly employees. 
  • Be the "newsroom" eyes and ears of people and business success stories that come from our manufacturing/Distribution Center teams in Erlanger, KY and Rockford, IL to proactively identify stories and create content that should become part of our overall PVM N.A. internal communications and storytelling. Assist the External PR Manager with information on stories that have a compelling external component. 
  • Development of the annual Supply Chain communications calendar, content/messaging, plans, and channels for Supply Chain sites' priority business and employee programs. Examples of the HR and company programs supported by these communications include, but are not limited to general HR/people announcements, Total Rewards/Benefits, learning and development, culture and engagement celebrations, and employer branding/recruitment.
  • Assist the Operations teams with decks or content for their regular Ops "town halls" i.e., Ops Airwaves. 
  • Create / post digital screen corporate content and create/ensure placement of monthly paper Hump Day roundup and Weekly Chew newsletters.
  • Serve as one of the facilitators of emergency communications platform as needed to dispatch urgent Supply Chain employee notifications. 
  • Travel estimated up to 20% to visit Rockford, IL factory location. 
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
  • Bachelor's degree required in Communications, Journalism, or HR Business.
  • 2-3 years experience-can include internships and post-college entry-level roles.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a corporate internal communications environment or agency experience supporting client internal communications programs. 
  • Some knowledge of HR communications is preferred and experience with "shop floor" or hourly workforce communication is desired.
  • Manufacturing environment experience preferred.
  • Strong writer (samples requested) and editor with an eye for a story.
  • Basic photography and video storytelling skills; Canva content creation and video editing; proficient with MS365 Suite including Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Teams. 
  • Understanding of hourly employees and HR/benefits communications is highly desired.
  • Must be highly organized and generally proficient with learning new information, skills or software. 
  • May need to attend events for plant shifts outside of regular business hours or in the community occasionally; must be able to travel to locations throughout NKY and Greater Cincinnati on occasion.
