Job description

SUMMARY

The Video Editor for the Media Team is responsible for editing, producing, and publishing high-quality video content across multiple digital platforms, including YouTube, podcasts, social media, and marketing channels. This role manages the video production and post-production process, from raw footage to final publish-ready deliverables, and collaborates with product managers, marketers, and on-camera talent to ensure polished, on-brand content.

The Video Editor also contributes to the strategy and development of Ascension’s YouTube channels and podcasts and provides production support for multi-team video initiatives from concept to completion. The Video Editor must be detail-oriented, an excellent multitasker, and work well under strict deadlines. This role reports to the Media Team Associate General Manager.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Edit and assemble raw video and audio footage into polished, publish-ready content for YouTube, podcasts, social media, and marketing channels.
  • Perform color correction, audio mixing, sound design, motion graphics, and captioning/subtitling to elevate production quality.
  • Oversee the video production calendar, ensuring alignment with marketing goals, SEO best practices, and audience engagement strategy.
  • Review and/or proofread video scripts, titles, descriptions, and thumbnails. May occasionally write or edit video scripts.
  • Respond to editorial and production requests across teams in an organized and efficient manner and provide recommendations as to whether additional production resources are needed to meet proposed deadlines.
  • Lead and manage select video and podcast projects, including developing creative ideas, coordinating production logistics, communicating with on-camera talent and artists, overseeing recording sessions, and ensuring final deliverables align with brand goals.
  • Collaborate with editors and marketers to optimize content for SEO and audience engagement.
  • Develop and maintain communication with all levels of staff in a cooperative and professional manner.
  • Work closely with the marketing function to develop and implement an updated and integrated video content strategy;
  • Plan, edit, package, and publish video content in accordance with an editorial calendar aligned with marketing and brand goals.
  • Develop and maintain an intake, evaluation, and publishing process for video content submitted for publication on Ascension’s Media platforms.
  • Consult with other business units and artists as needed to assist in the development of video content strategy and content pieces.
  • Track and analyze key performance metrics to refine video content strategy and maximize engagement.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Film, Media Production, Communications, Theology, or related field preferred.
  • Experience editing video content for digital platforms.
  • 3-5+ years of work experience in video editing, production, or post-production preferred.
  • Experience managing production calendars, content strategy, and cross-functional teams preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently lead complex video and podcast content projects from concept through completion.
  • Experience in recording and directing video/audio content.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and other industry-standard video editing software.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Google Workspace.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written skills needed.
  • Occasional travel is required.
