Salesforce is seeking a transformational Area Vice President, Sales, Higher Education, to serve as a key member and business leader to the Sales Leadership Team. This Area Vice President will be responsible for inspirational sales leadership and management of growth within the Higher Education Business Unit, through aggressively growing top-line revenues and driving new business through the implementation of scalable, repeatable, structured systems and processes.
Additionally, this leader will serve as a strong Business Leader, Customer Partner, and Talent Multiplier, and will have the personal drive and commitment to both understand and successfully navigate a fast-growing, global company striving towards continued market domination in an evolving marketplace.
Responsibilities:
  • Will help to set and implement Salesforce's Higher Education sales strategy. This executive will assume the leadership of a growing sales organization including four Regional Vice Presidents (RVP), and thirty-five Account Executives (AE) to help steer complex deal transactions.
  • This role reports to our SVP & GM, Higher Education.
  • Set and execute an aggressive customer acquisition strategy to generate growth in revenue and bookings
  • Maintain key customer relationships and develop and implement strategies for expanding the company's Enterprise customer base within the Higher Education industry
  • Maintain strong reporting and accountability against numbers, driving to exceed quotas, while developing and managing motivating incentive tools
  • Act as a strategic thought leader and advisor to the SVP, Higher Education
  • Work closely with functions and other executives across the organization to establish and develop a strong and collaborative partnership to ensure continued success
  • Manage the overall sales process, set appropriate metrics for sales funnel management
  • Plan and manage at both the strategic and operational levels

Required Qualifications:
  • 1st and 2nd line leadership experience leading teams in strategic enterprise sales
  • Deep industry expertise in the Higher Education sector
  • Deep industry expertise in top 100 technology companies
  • Consistent overachievement of quota and revenue goals
  • Consistent attainment of revenue growth
  • Solid track record of recruiting, developing, and retaining high performing sales organizations
  • 12+ years in software and/or applications enterprise sales (ideally in a CRM, ERP and/or otherwise relevant software company), selling primarily to the CxO level
  • 5+ years of leadership experience
  • Proven ability to drive transformational change across a large organization: understands the drivers of how to change a culture, assess performance, continuously refresh a sales organization and build capability
  • Excellent operational and analytical abilities
  • Consistent track record of leading complex enterprise deals
  • Consistent track record of building satisfied, loyal and referenceable customers
  • Dynamic and strong sales execution mindset with a passion for a fast-paced growing environment
  • Shown success working within a highly matrixed organization and establishing relationships across all functions
  • Experience selling cloud based enterprise applications is strongly preferred
  • Champions diversity of team, thought, and opinion with a demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with diverse team members
  • Degree or equivalent relevant experience required. Experience will be evaluated based on the Values & Behaviors for the role (e.g. extracurricular leadership roles, military experience, volunteer roles, work experience, etc.)
