Job description

RC Andersen, part of the STO Building Group, is looking to hire a Vice President for the industrial market in Atlanta, GA.

Position Summary

The Vice President of Industrial is responsible for driving business growth, building and maintaining key client relationships, and overseeing the successful delivery of industrial construction projects. This role is both a market-facing business development leader and an operational executive, accountable for establishing and growing the industrial sector practice within the organization. As the practice is in its early stages, this leader will play a foundational role in shaping strategy, building a team, and establishing the operational model.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Client Relationships

  • Identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities within the industrial sector, including manufacturing, warehouse and distribution, e-commerce fulfillment, and related markets.

  • Build and leverage a strong, established network of owner, developer, and decision-maker relationships to generate a consistent pipeline of opportunities.

  • Serve as the primary external face of the industrial practice, representing the company at industry events, client meetings, and pursuit presentations.

  • Lead and coordinate pursuit strategy, proposals, and interviews in partnership with preconstruction and leadership teams.

  • Develop and maintain long-term relationships with clients, architects, engineers, developers, and other key industry partners.

Operations & Project Oversight

  • Provide senior-level oversight for industrial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to client expectations.

  • Establish project execution standards, processes, and accountability structures for the industrial practice.

  • Partner with preconstruction on constructability reviews, cost modeling, phasing strategy, and project logistics.

  • Monitor project financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, cost controls, and cash flow.

  • Review and approve major change orders, contracts, and procurement decisions.

  • Identify and mitigate project risks proactively to protect schedule, budget, and client relationships.

Practice Building & Team Leadership

  • Build the industrial practice from the ground up, including defining organizational structure, staffing needs, and operational model.

  • Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing team of project managers, superintendents, and support staff as the practice grows.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, integrity, and continuous improvement.

  • Work closely with executive leadership to align industrial sector strategy with overall company goals and growth plans.

  • Remain current on market conditions, industry trends, and competitive landscape to inform business strategy.

Preconstruction & Strategy

  • Collaborate with preconstruction teams on budgeting, scheduling, and scope development for pursuits and awarded projects.

  • Provide market intelligence and client insight to support go/no-go decisions and win strategies.

  • Assist in transitioning projects from preconstruction into operations, ensuring continuity and alignment.

Safety & Quality

  • Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company safety programs and all applicable regulatory requirements on every project.

  • Ensure quality control standards are consistently followed throughout the project lifecycle.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field - or equivalent work experience.

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in commercial construction, with substantial focus on industrial project types including manufacturing, warehouse/distribution, or similar.

  • Demonstrated success in business development, including building and managing a client portfolio and generating new revenue.

  • Proven track record of overseeing large, complex construction projects and managing multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing project-level budgets and forecasts.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship management skills.

  • Highly regarded within the industry with a credible reputation and established network.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working for a general contractor or construction manager in a senior operations or business development role.

  • Familiarity with fast-track, phased, and design-build delivery methods.

  • Active involvement in professional and community organizations within the construction or industrial sector.
