Job description

Eaton is seeking a Vice President, Program Management at the enterprise level. It is preferred that this leader will be based in Beachwood, Ohio at Eaton's US HQ.
Position Overview:
Eaton Corporation is looking for a Vice President of Program Management at the enterprise level. We are seeking an exceptionally talented visionary with excellent executive leadership skills, broad-based technology knowledge, and a demonstrated track record of successfully leading a global engineering organization. The preferred location is at the US Corporate Headquarters in Beachwood, Ohio.
Reporting to Vice President of Engineering Functional Excellence, the Vice President of Program Management will develop and implement Eaton's enterprise-wide strategy for Program Management. In this role, you will provide overall direction for digital tools, features, and methods required to enable world-class Program Management execution across the enterprise, with the aim to accelerate the programs significantly (e.g. doubling the throughput). The role will have overall responsibility for identifying and deploying state-of-the-art processes and digital tools to achieve this speed to market as well as creating visibility (dashboards) to the organization on the current actual state of the projects and programs.
This role will partner directly with the enterprise engineering leaders and Program Management teams and will be closely involved on business unit critical programs, providing resources and program management expertise to quickly deliver high quality solutions to market. The individual will be responsible for developing and deploying the system in partnership with IT, and for reporting and improving the critical KPI's related to on-time, on-budget and on-performance new product development. This role will implement program and project control mechanisms with an aim to reduce cycle time and drive disciplined execution around Design for Six Sigma. This role will also be responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives (supported by lean techniques) in projects and programs in partnership with digital engineering, process excellence and IT.
What you'll do:
Essential Functions:
  • Defines and implements state-of-the-art Project and Portfolio Management practices, processes and tools across the enterprise (e.g. project & resource planning, execution & tracking through e.g. integration with PROLaunch Studio, Critical Chain Project Management) in partnership with digital engineering, process excellence and IT.
  • Overseeing the program management function across the enterprise to deliver New Product and major redesigns within all scope, schedule and budget commitments. Identifies and implements opportunities for improvement in managing programs and projects. This includes cross-functional coordination of Marketing, Engineering, Supply Chain and Operations team members for optimized schedules and communication.
  • Implements control mechanism with the aim to reduce cycle time and drive disciplined execution of Design for Six Sigma.
  • Facilitates major project reporting sessions with the senior leadership (Segment reviews) with administration of product portfolio, program review.
  • Owns the continuous improvement initiatives in the execution of projects and programs. Also owns the process of resource planning for multiple-year product & technology roadmaps, water-lining and product portfolio management.
  • Leads oversight and implementation of the ProPM program management system and database, used to control all programs and projects with status updates, resource planning and upward reporting.
  • Leads complex, multi-function, initiatives e.g. related to Portfolio Complexity reduction across the enterprise.
  • Creating strong partnerships with Engineering and Program Management leaders to promote/implement the state-of-the-art program management tools and methods.
  • Working with global resources to enable high performance teams across functions, geographies, time zones and cultures.
  • Enabling FRSI (Future ready skills infrastructure) on multi-year Product & Technology Roadmaps to optimize global resource planning, including build, buy, and redirect.
  • Build highly skilled team that can efficiently support the enterprise in its program management needs, by developing and implementing the latest processes / tools / training.
  • Demonstrate the highest standards of ethical conduct in leading the organization, ensuring accurate reporting, protection of the environment, development of human resources, and application of sound business practices.
  • Establish common metrics to gauge engineering proficiency across the enterprise. Will work with global engineering council to harmonize, deploy and measure critical KPI's with targeted YOY improvements.
  • Responsible for measuring global engineering spend and new product sales across the enterprise. This includes the implementation of real-time dashboards and reporting on key metrics to senior management.

Team Structure:
This team will include a Senior Specialist (Portfolio Complexity Reduction; Palantir (data analysis) expertise), Program Management Director (with 5 Program Managers including Program Manager who leads Eaton Research Labs, Functional Reports (based in Pune, India) to include a Program Management Excellence team (including dashboards team) with 17 employees and 2 Palantir experts (data analysis)
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum 15 years of progressive engineering and/or program management leadership, developing products/solutions in a fast paced, global technology-driven company which has recognizable competencies in innovation.
  • Minimum 5 years of multi-level people management experience, and leading cross-functional global teams with demonstrated ability to act decisively based upon data and experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required. Master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Systems Engineering is strongly preferred.
  • Legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship.

  • Thorough understanding of the product development process with the ability to balance/manage commercial expectations and project timelines.
  • Experience in leading globally dispersed teams, embracing cultural differences and understanding communication practices needed to create successful partnerships in an open and supportive environment.
  • Experience presenting to Senior Leadership.
  • The successful candidate will have a consensus-driven style and will value the creation of collaborative relationships.
  • A track record of demonstrated success in influencing both technology and business leaders with respect to a longer-term strategy and vision through an appropriate agenda and plans for implementation.
  • Demonstrated experience in building organizational capabilities and increasing the development and movement of high performing talent through broadened experiences, as well as providing scale and establish bench and succession depth.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $227000 - $333000 a year. This role is also eligible for a variable incentive program.
