About the role: The VP of Sales, Defense owns magniX's commercial strategy for applying its aerospace-grade batteries, power electronics, and power distribution technology to mission-critical defense applications, including energy storage, mobility, and platform electrification for defense customers. The role is responsible for building magniX's pipeline with defense primes, government agencies, and allied militaries, and for navigating the compliance, security, and procurement requirements unique to defense contracting, including export control (ITAR/EAR) and CMMC considerations.

The VP of Sales, Defense will develop and maintain customer relationships with the purpose of selling magniX's electric propulsion, battery, and power systems to customers in the defense and government electrification market, including branches of the U.S. military, defense primes, and allied government agencies. This is an onsite role that requires travel, extensive dealmaking experience, negotiation of contracts, and a proven ability to close deals within this vertical.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Map and prioritize defense and government electrification opportunities, including energy storage, mobility platforms, and mission-critical power systems
  • Develop and implement a sales strategy and pipeline for the vertical, in alignment with magniX's overall commercial strategy set by the CCO
  • Build and maintain relationships with defense primes, program offices, government agencies, and allied military procurement organizations
  • Act as an evangelist for the magniX brand within the vertical
  • Identify and pursue new defense contract opportunities, partnering with magniX's compliance and legal teams to navigate export control and security requirements
  • Identify, initiate, lead, and close sales opportunities in line with the company's overall strategic plan and financial objectives
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Program Management, and Operations to ensure the timely delivery of products and services committed to customers
  • Create, track, and maintain competitive market data specific to the vertical
  • Prepare and deliver regular sales and pipeline reports to the CCO
  • Partner with marketing to develop vertical-specific literature, value propositions, and trade show presence
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with 8+ years of experience in sales or business development at a senior level
  • 5+ years of experience selling into defense, government, or defense-adjacent markets, ideally with direct experience in defense procurement cycles
  • Ability to travel as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of export control regimes (ITAR/EAR), government contracting requirements, and security clearance processes is strongly preferred
  • Able to develop business cases and value-based propositions
  • Critical thinker and problem solver with demonstrable consultative selling experience
