Senior Remote Golang Developers are experienced software engineers who specialize in building applications using the Go programming language (commonly known as Golang) while working remotely. They are responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance backend systems, often as part of distributed teams. Senior developers typically have several years of experience with Go, a strong understanding of concurrent programming, and are proficient in collaborating using remote tools and workflows. Their expertise enables them to lead projects, mentor junior developers, and ensure code quality and scalability.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a senior remote Golang developer?

To thrive as a Senior Remote Golang Developer, you need advanced proficiency in Go programming, strong understanding of concurrent systems, and significant experience in software architecture, typically supported by a computer science degree or equivalent experience. Familiarity with cloud platforms (such as AWS or GCP), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and version control systems (Git) is commonly required, alongside knowledge of CI/CD pipelines. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and self-management skills help you collaborate effectively with distributed teams and drive projects independently. Job description

About the role and team

Engineering at Uber means building for real-world impact under real-world constraints. As a Senior Software Engineer (Data & Backend), you will architect mission-critical systems that power the foundation of trust across our global marketplace - from ensuring millions of earners are paid accurately and on time to scaling the simulation platforms that drive billions in pricing decisions. You will work on uniquely ambitious projects where performance, reliability, and scale cannot be separated.

The problems here are complex, the systems are massive, and the pace is fast. You'll need to make smart decisions with imperfect information and own your work end-to-end: from the first design doc to debugging production issues when the stakes are highest. We are looking for technical powerhouses who think in systems, stay calm under pressure, and care about building things that actually work. If you're energized by challenge and motivated by real-world impact-this is where you'll grow.

Rate of Pay:                 $242,600 to $246,000 per Year

You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits. More details can be found at the following link https://www.uber.com/careers/benefits.

What you'll do

  • Develop and test software systems within the documents platform.
  • Evaluate requirements for document lifecycle management features, estimate development costs, and design/implement solutions for document authentication, validation, and time-based workflows.
  • Review code design and implementation, improve development processes, and perform unit testing across data access, business logic, and API layers.
  • Communicate status on feature development, analyze technical risks and trade-offs (e.g., data consistency, synchronous vs asynchronous processing patterns), and integrate components into the larger platform ecosystem.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to document state transitions, workflow execution, and data migrations.
  • Work autonomously on specific feature areas such as document action scheduling, validity management, metadata handling, or status synchronization.
  • Contribute broadly to the platform and demonstrate emerging technical leadership.
  • May be assigned to various initiatives across the document management domain, from early feature scoping and API design through detailed implementation, testing, and production rollout phases.
  • May telecommute.

Basic Qualifications

  • Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering (Any), Information Technology, Mathematics, Physics, or related field, followed by six years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a related occupation.
  • Position requires:
    • Working with partitioned databases;
    • Computer Science fundamentals;
    • Experience in handling Personally Identifiable Information (PII) data, and building systems that can adhere to privacy and Personal data handling standards;
    • Building products using microservices and event-driven architectures;
    • Building large scale, distributed backend systems, with high iteration velocity;
    • Programming languages such as Golang, Java, and Python;
    • Software design and development skills;
    • Working in an agile engineering environment.

Ready to Ride?

This isn't the kind of place where you follow a playbook - it's where you help write one. If you're driven by impact, energized by challenge, and ready to shape how the world moves - we'd love to hear from you.

You may be eligible for bonuses, equity, and other compensation, as well as a range of benefits. Explore our benefits.
