Job description

Position Title: Director of Engineering
The Director of Engineering plays a crucial role in leading the Product Engineering group by leveraging extensive knowledge of products and technical expertise. This executive leadership role oversees engineering strategy, product development, manufacturing support, continuous improvement, and team development while helping shape the future of a nationally recognized manufacturing organization.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineering leader with extensive manufacturing experience who enjoys mentoring teams, improving products and processes, and partnering closely with operations to deliver innovative engineering solutions.
Salary Range: $175,000 - $220,000 / Year DOE
Director of Engineering Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the engineering team, managing four direct reports
  • Conduct production health checks by reviewing yield, downtime, and quality data
  • Support technicians and operators with equipment or process issues
  • Run experiments to improve yield, cost, or cycle time
  • Coordinate with suppliers on new equipment or upgrades
  • Maintain and update manufacturing documentation
  • Participate in audits and quality improvement efforts
  • Help optimize factory layout and ergonomics

Director of Engineering Requirements:
  • 10+ years of experience in product engineering and manufacturing
  • 5+ years of management experience
  • Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Experience with continuous improvement cycles, employing Lean, Kaizen, and TOC concepts
  • Proficient in mechanical engineering principles such as stress analysis and fluid mechanics
  • Familiarity with materials science including metals and plastics
  • Knowledge of quality assurance practices and machine design
  • Understanding of business principles including ROI and budgeting
  • Proficient in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office
  • Project management experience is preferred
