About the Position

The Vice President of Estimating will provide executive leadership of the company's estimating and preconstruction functions while guiding bid strategy and pricing for complex infrastructure projects across major transportation markets.

The Vice President of Estimating will play a key role in determining which projects the company pursues and how they are positioned competitively in the market. The position works closely with executive leadership, operations, and business development teams to shape project pursuit strategy and support long-term company growth.

This role requires a combination of technical estimating expertise, leadership capability, and strategic judgment when evaluating risk, competitiveness, and project selection.

Key Responsibilities

Estimating Leadership

  • Lead and mentor a team of senior estimators and estimating managers
  • Establish estimating standards, processes, and best practices across the organization
  • Oversee the preparation of conceptual, detailed, and final bid estimates

Bid Strategy

  • Participate in go/no-go decisions for major pursuits
  • Develop competitive pricing strategies for complex civil infrastructure projects
  • Lead estimate reviews and executive bid presentations

Preconstruction Leadership

  • Collaborate closely with operations teams to ensure constructability and production assumptions align with field execution
  • Oversee the transition of projects from estimating to operations after award

Market Engagement

  • Work with executive leadership and business development teams to identify strategic opportunities
  • Participate in major client pursuits, presentations, and industry engagement

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred

Years of Experience

  • 15+ years of experience in heavy civil construction
  • Significant experience estimating large and complex infrastructure projects

Certifications / Credentials

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or industry certifications are a plus but not required
