The of VP Commercial Lending Manages growth and quality of the Commercial Lending Department and associated portfolio. Reviews commercial real estate (CRE) loans, C&I loans, SBA loans, product guidelines, and department underwriting policies and procedures to ensure they meet Logix and regulatory standards. Reports findings to Loan Quality Committee (LQC), Senior Loan Committee (SLC), and Board of Directors (BOD). Publishes and reports loan audit findings with strategic action plans to remediate findings. Recommends changes to lending policies and guidelines to respective level of authority. Maintains loan activity reports and records of findings. Oversees loan quality and loan production as well as managing the existing portfolio including workouts, settlements, liquidations and foreclosures.

Responsibilities
    Reviews and audits selected loans to Logix standards.
  • Reviews and create loan product guidelines and underwriting policies and procedures to Logix and NCUA standards.
  • Reviews reports for Loan Quality Committee and Senior Loan Committee.
  • Reviews and presents policies to Board of Directors.
  • Monitor and manage portfolio performance against approved goals and objectives, as well as meeting Federal regulatory standards and LFCU Policies and Procedures. Ensures the business unit is compliant.
  • Responsible for long term business planning, annual business plan, scorecards, and roadmaps related to Commercial Lending. Evaluates and advises on the impact of long-range planning, introduction of new programs/strategies and regulatory action.
  • Drives operational and business efficiencies for Commercial Lending through all channels with an eye toward future enhancements to maximize analysis, efficiencies, revenue streams and profit while providing team members with professional and personal growth opportunities.
  • Makes recommendations and provides ongoing support on enhancements to existing products and/or introduction of new products and features in alignment with the product strategy to achieve market share and profitability goals and ensure the product meets the needs of members.
  • Strategically oversees delinquent loans to mitigate problem credits and reduce/eliminate risk of loss.
  • Establishes and implements plans to achieve short and long-range goals and objectives, including establishing appropriate policies and operating procedures.
  • Reviews and negotiates participation agreements and other commercial related contractual agreements.
  • Networks with other industry related entities to market loan participations, pool sales and to obtain opportunities for participation loan purchases.
  • Manages production goals.
  • Evaluates and implements software/program for Commercial Lending to maintain efficiencies and quality control for underwriting and portfolio management.
  • Publishes and reports monthly loan errors and audit findings to management and/or auditors/examiners and maintains these findings.
  • Reviews automatic system approvals, processes, and recommends necessary changes.
  • Investigates unusual or complex loan problems.
  • Recommends changes to the loan quality process based on direction from SVP of Commercial Lending and Business Services.
  • Assesses economic conditions to review and report on trends.
  • Review and maintain information for the Loan Quality Committee.
  • Creates and maintains loan performance reports. (e.g., application volume statistics, delinquency, charge- offs, loan balance, loan errors, etc.).
  • Prepares and submits low and high level reports on portfolio performance for auditing and management.
  • Participates with establishing portfolio performance targets.
  • Establishes and recommends changes to loan audit processes and reports.
  • Manages CRE, C&I, and SBA portfolios.
  • Reviews and develops lending policies and underwriting criteria to ensure quality loans and avoid unnecessary risks.
  • Evaluates, selects, and approves vendors, investors, appraisers, title companies, and attorneys to maintain the quality and quantity of member services.
  • Attends ALCO and loan committee meetings to report on areas of responsibility as directed by SVP of Commercial Lending and Business Services.
  • Controls operating expenses to stay within the department's budget.
  • Prepares, balances, and sends monthly SBA 1502 report and lender remittance via wire or certified check to Colson Services by due date.
  • Responsible for proper disbursements or advances on loans and completing 1050 Form (Settlement Sheet).
  • As permitted by SBA, reviews guaranteed loan portion has been sold and confirms timely payments completed.
  • Prepares collateral actions including subordinations, partial releases, and substitutions.
  • Independently analyzes and recommends loan servicing requests within Logix and SBA guidelines, including loan assumptions.
  • Prepares and submits 327 actions (servicing actions) including reallocation of proceeds, extension of disbursement periods, loan reduction or cancellation, etc.to SBA District Office or Loan Servicing Center.
  • Ensures that annual correspondence to borrowers requesting copies of financial statements/tax returns are being conducted on a timely basis.
  • Maintains copies of current personal property and hazard insurance policies in file as well as property taxes.
  • Negotiates loan workouts on problem loans including approval and documentation of workout plans.
  • Performs annual business site visits to borrowers as needed.
  • Performs business site visits for new loan opportunities, case-by-case.
  • Performs full and ongoing financial analysis of existing relationships.
  • Ensures proper loan grades to Logix standards.
  • Secures borrower collateral, equity, or assets to preserve the loan principal, gathers interest, and prevents or limits losses.
  • Mails default letters, conducts site inspections and interviews, and coordinates with legal counsel or outside collection agencies.
  • Conducts moderate to heavy borrower interaction, including periodic calls to collect information and monitor the borrower's ability to repay the loan as structured.
  • Responsible for the workout of adversely graded loans through the restructuring of debt, negotiation of settlement agreements, pursuit of appropriate legal action and/or the liquidation of collateral.
  • Liquidates real estate or other assets as necessary and/or manages properties or other assets owned by Logix.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of commercial lenders, credit analysts, and portfolio managers.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with members, businesses, community partners, and industry professionals.
  • Foster a member-focused, service-oriented culture consistent with the credit union's values.
Qualifications

Education

  • Minimum - 4 Year / Bachelors Degree
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered. Bachelor's degree required.
  • Preferred - Graduate Degree
  • Master's degree in the related discipline preferred.

Experience

  • 10 to 15 Years of Experience
  • Ten or more years of experience in a financial institution in an officer or executive capacity, overseeing credit and sales, dealing with Commercial and SBA loans.
Knowledge, Skills & Ability
  • Strong knowledge of commercial and SBA lending, including regulatory, legal, and credit union compliance requirements.
  • Ability to analyze complex tax returns, financial statements, cash flow, and collateral value assessments.
  • Deep understanding of loan programs and structures, credit analysis, audits, and default/workout processes and negotiations.
  • Proven leadership, supervisory, and training experience.
  • Experience managing audits and federal examinations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all organization levels.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
