Job description


A prestigious financial institution is seeking a bilingual Japanese-speaking Head of Tax and Accounting (SVP level) based in New York, NY.
The company has branch offices, affiliates, and subsidiaries in over 20 states across North America. This position is responsible for managing federal and multi-state tax filings, including consolidation.
Primary Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
โ€ข Planning and managing consolidated federal income tax filings for U.S. subsidiaries
โ€ข Overseeing tax operations for affiliated companies across North America
โ€ข Calculating consolidated taxes for subsidiaries in multiple states
โ€ข Supervising and providing guidance to accounting staff and the VP
โ€ข Reviewing tax provision calculations
โ€ข Conducting tax-related legal research
โ€ข Planning and advising on potential M&A strategies
Requirements
โ€ข Minimum of 10 years of experience in multi-state tax return preparation
โ€ข Prior experience as a Big Four corporate tax senior or equivalent is strongly preferred
โ€ข Experience consolidating tax filings for multiple entities
โ€ข Strong communication and leadership skills
โ€ข Bilingual proficiency in English and Japanese (reading and writing preferred); business-level Japanese is a plus but not required
โ€ข CPA certification is a plus but not required
โ€ข BA/BS degree in Accounting or related field is preferred
Work Schedule:
This is a hybrid position based in Midtown Manhattan, requiring 2-4 days per week in the office and 1-3 days remote.
