Job description

WHO WE ARE

At Trustly, we're building a smarter, faster, and more secure financial future by revolutionizing the world of payments. As a global leader in Open Banking Payments, we are establishing Pay by Bank as the new standard at checkout, providing unparalleled freedom, speed, and ease to millions of consumers and merchants worldwide.

Our Ambition: To build the world's most disruptive payment network and redefine what the payment experience should feel like.

Trustly is a global team of innovators, collaborators, and doers. If you are driven by a strong sense of purpose and thrive in a dynamic, entrepreneurial, and high-growth environment, join us and be part of a team that's transforming the way the world pays.

ABOUT THE INFRA & SDLC TEAM

Trustly's SDLC & Infrastructure team shapes how every engineer at Trustly builds and ships software. The team owns the software development lifecycle globally — developer tooling, CI/CD, and incident management — and is leading Trustly's transformation toward an AI-optimized, developer-first engineering organization. The team also manages and optimizes the AWS infrastructure that everything runs on. As Trustly scales its engineering capacity and embraces AI-native ways of building, this team plays a pivotal role in making every engineer at Trustly faster and more effective.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As VP of SDLC & Infrastructure, you will own how Trustly builds and ships software in an AI-native world — the software development lifecycle, developer platform, and the cloud infrastructure beneath them — with a mandate to modernize, optimize, and AI-enable each. You'll lead a team of SDLC specialists, platform engineers, and infrastructure engineers, and you'll set the vision for developer productivity across the organization. This role is for an engineering leader who thinks deeply about how software gets built, operational excellence, and the future of software development.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Own Trustly's AWS infrastructure strategy — driving cost optimization, architectural best practices, reliability, and scalability across a complex, globally distributed payment system.
  • Define and lead Trustly's AI-optimized SDLC — embedding AI-assisted coding, testing, code review, and deployment practices into the development lifecycle to increase engineering velocity and quality.
  • Own Trustly's incident management process — building a mature, blameless incident culture with clear escalation paths, effective runbooks, and rigorous post-mortem practices.
  • Build and lead the team responsible for developer tooling, CI/CD infrastructure, and internal platforms — creating a developer experience that makes Trustly engineers faster and less frustrated.
  • Drive infrastructure cost management and cloud optimization — establishing FinOps practices and ensuring Trustly's AWS spend is efficient and accountable.
  • Partner with Engineering leadership across teams to establish and enforce infrastructure standards, security practices, and architectural guardrails.
WHO YOU ARE
  • 15+ years of engineering experience, with at least 5 years leading infrastructure, platform, or DevOps teams in a high-scale cloud environment.
  • Deep AWS expertise — you understand the services, architecture patterns, and cost levers that matter for a complex, high-throughput financial services platform.
  • Strong perspective on AI-optimized development practices — you've already experimented with or implemented AI-assisted coding, testing, and deployment tooling and can articulate a clear vision for where this goes next.
  • Experienced incident commander — you've built incident response programs, led high-severity incident response in production, and driven meaningful improvements in MTTR and system reliability.
  • Developer experience advocate — you measure success by how fast and confidently engineers can ship, and you build the tools and processes that enable that.
  • Strong cross-functional leader — able to work across Product, Security, and Engineering to drive adoption of standards and practices without being a bottleneck.
OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU

Trustly is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status.
