Description
This is professional administrative work supervising managers, administrative personnel, equipment operators, maintenance employees, inmate labor, and contract services in the maintenance, repair and construction of signalization and traffic signage, streets, sidewalks, stormwater infrastructure, drainage retention areas, city right-of-ways, parks, athletic fields, other city owned properties and code enforcement directed correction of private property. The position is also responsible for coordinating Infrastructure Division projects, consulting with the Transportation Engineer, Stormwater Engineer and employee training programs. This position reports to the City Engineer/ Director of Public Works.
Examples of Duties
  1. Assists the Public Works Director with the development of budget requests for the operation of the Infrastructure Maintenance Division.
  2. Plans, organizes, monitors and optimizes personnel, equipment, and materials for the maintenance and operation of the street system, stormwater management system and the traffic management system.
  3. Analyzes field data and reviews engineering studies to be submitted to the Transportation Engineer or Stormwater Engineer.
  4. Assists in the review of traffic and stormwater impact analysis submitted by developers and consultants.
  5. Attends various committee meetings pertaining to transportation projects and community service events.
  6. Makes field inspections of projects.
  7. Instructs employees in all phases of field safety, traffic control and safe operation of equipment. Monitors maintenance of all vehicles for the divisions. Monitors required DOT pre and post trip inspections for compliance by the employee group.
NONESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  1. Answer telephones.
  2. Run errands.
  3. Run copies and faxes of plans.
  4. Performs other duties as assigned.
  5. Attends staff and other meetings to represent the area.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business administration, public administration, engineering or construction management, ANDat least one year of experience in transportation or stormwater engineering.
  • A minimum five years of experience in a transportation or stormwater engineering-oriented job AND three years of supervisory experience may be considered.
  • An equivalent combination of education, certifications, training, and experience may be considered.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATES
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Operators Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.

Supplemental Information
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of materials, equipment, procedures and methods used in the maintenance of stormwater infrastructure, streets, sidewalks, traffic signal, traffic signs, and related public works activities, along with parks beautification and maintenance.
  • Must be able to assist in development of plans and specifications as per Florida Department of Transportation standards.

For full time employees, the cancer insurance policy can help provide security if you, or a covered dependent, suddenly become diagnosed with cancer.

Deferred Compensation Plan
Deferred compensation is available to all full-time employees at the time of employment. This benefit allows the employee to defer income without paying taxes until money is withdrawn. Current plan is administered through MissionSquare.
Direct Deposit
Direct deposit automatically deposits your net pay each pay period to your checking or savings account at your own financial institution. Direct deposit is a condition of employment for a person hired by the City.
Each pay period the employee receives an earnings statement showing gross pay, taxes, other deductions, accruals and net pay. Enrollment forms are available at Human Resources or Payroll.

Retirement Plan
All full-time employees hired after 10/01/2013, apart from Sworn Police Officers and Firefighters, are enrolled in the 401a Defined Contribution Retirement Plan with MissionSquare. All contributions to the 401a Defined contribution plan are pre-tax and earnings grow tax-deferred. The City contributes 8% and employees contribute 3%. City contributions are 100% vested after one year of employment. You will be enrolled automatically and should take time to review your investment options at your earliest convenience.
Training Programs
The City is committed to provide training programs for all departments and all positions. Risk Management conducts classes in Defensive Driving, Safety, and Insurance. With rare exceptions, classes are offered during working hours, and are open to all eligible employees.
Tuition Reimbursement
