Job description

Job Summary: WMCHealth is seeking a visionary and operationally disciplined VP of Core Technology to lead the modernization and management of our enterprise technology infrastructure. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer (CIO), the VP, serves as a key member of the IT leadership team.

In this role, you will be responsible for the strategic direction, engineering, and 24/7/365 operational excellence of the network's core technology stack. You will ensure that our clinical and administrative staff have the robust, secure, and high-performing tools necessary to deliver life-saving care across our multi-campus health system.

Responsibilities:ย 

Infrastructure, Storage & Data Center

  • Server & Storage: Direct the strategy and day-to-day operations for all Core Technology, including high-performance Server and Storage Infrastructures.
  • Virtualization & Capacity: Oversee enterprise Virtualization environments and lead proactive Capacity Planning to ensure the network scales ahead of clinical demand.
  • Facilities & Cabling: Provide oversight for Cable Plant Management, ensuring the physical layer of the network (fiber/copper) is documented, maintained, and scalable.
  • NOC & BCDR: Lead the Network Operations Center (NOC) for 24/7 monitoring and maintain rigorous Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR) strategies to ensure clinical resilience.

End-User Services & Support

  • Service Desk: Own the Service Desk and its Underlying Infrastructure (ITSM tools), ensuring high-quality technical support and efficient incident resolution for all WMCHealth employees.
  • Mobility & MDM: Oversee the full lifecycle of All Devices (desktops, phones, Androids, iPhones, etc.), utilizing advanced Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions to secure tablets, smartphones, and clinical workstations.
  • Identity & Access: Manage Identity and Access Management (IAM) frameworks to ensure secure, seamless access to clinical data while maintaining strict HIPAA compliance.

Networking & Digital Transformation

  • Connectivity: Manage the enterprise Data Network (LAN/WAN/Wireless) and Communications Technology (VoIP, unified communications, and clinical alerting).
  • Digital Technologies: Drive the implementation and management of patient-facing and internal Digital Technologies, including CRM systems, AI Bots, and enterprise Websites.
  • Databases: Supervise the administration and security of all enterprise Databases, ensuring data integrity for EHR and business systems.

Strategy & Leadership

  • Collaborate with the SVP/CIO to develop a multi-year technology roadmap aligned with WMCHealthโ€™s clinical goals.
  • Establish KPIs and service level agreements (SLAs) to measure system performance and team responsiveness.
  • Manage capital and operating budgets, ensuring maximum value for technology investments.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Experience:

  • 10+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, ideally within a large, complex healthcare system, are required.

Education: ย 

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, required
  • Masterโ€™s degree, preferred

  • Technical Depth: Expert-level knowledge of Virtualization, IAM, BCDR, and ITSM/Service Desk infrastructure.
  • Digital Savvy: Experience deploying AI/Machine Learning bots and CRM platforms in a high-touch service environment.
  • Physical Layer: Knowledge of Cable Plant Management and data center physical infrastructure.
