Job description

Area Vice President - Hospice Sales
Join James River Home Health, where your expertise and compassion make a real difference. We’re seeking a dedicated Vice President of Hospice Sales to join our team.
In this role, you will function as the accountable party for the success of your assigned territory and subordinate sales team members. You will build and maintain strong relationships with key referral sources in new markets while developing strategic plans to manage and grow accounts. You'll generate patient referrals by educating physicians and referral sources on the benefits of receiving quality care at home. As a patient advocate, you'll follow referred patients, collaborating with the Intake team and clinicians to ensure a seamless, high-quality customer service experience. You will monitor key performance indicators with service line leaders and manage performance at or favorable to expectation.   Other responsibilities for this position include the following:

 
Business Development:

  • Develop strategies to penetrate new markets and establish a strong presence.
  • Conduct market research to identify potential clients, trends, and growth opportunities.
  • Analyze industry data and competitor strategies to inform sales and marketing plans.
  • Drive new sales areas and improve existing sales through innovative methods.
  • Stay updated on business trends and create new opportunities for expansion.
  • Collaborate with sales and clinical teams to meet sales and profit goals.
  • Train salespeople to enhance performance and meet targets.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of company products, services, and competitive positioning.
  • Provide education to referral sources, patients, and their families regarding the services offered by James River Home Health and Hospice.
  • Support Recruiters in sourcing staff for the location; this may include attendance at local recruitment events.
  • Coordinate with service line Administrators to ensure smooth functioning of the branch; including ensuring posted office hours are staffed, team members have the resources (including supplies) to successfully provide patient care, and mail/ other items that need to be routed to corporate are monitored.


Sales:

  • Set and achieve sales goals, forecast needs, and execute business strategy.
  • Present the benefits of home care to physicians and referral sources in the medical community.
  • Prepare proposals, presentations, and pitches to secure new business.
  • Grow market share through increased referrals and program participation.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring quality service.
  • Collaborate with operational, clinical, and business teams to track referrals and patient progress.
  • Perform sales calls, prospecting, and liaison visits to meet goals and expand accounts.


Managerial:

  • Lead the full employee lifecycle, including interviewing, hiring, performance management, and, when necessary, separation.
  • Manage time, attendance, and plan for coverage during team member absences for planned time off or unexpected absences.
  • Ensure subordinate team members follow all organizational policies and procedures, state and federal regulatory guidelines, and perform in accordance with accrediting body standards.


Requirements:

Extensive travel is required, including multi-state territories as company growth occurs.

Candidate will be required to participate in the call coverage rotation for the Sales Team.  
2-5 years demonstrated sales success with Hospice Sales

3+ years of direct people management experience


Compensation: $119,250 - $132,500 annual
