POSITION SUMMARY:
The 3-time WNBA Champions Los Angeles Sparks are seeking a visionary and commercially minded Vice President of Business Strategy to serve as a key executive leader and strategic advisor to the President. This role will drive enterprise strategy, business intelligence, innovation, revenue optimization, and cross-functional growth to strengthen the organization's leadership in professional women's sports. This position reports to the President.
Partnering closely with the President, executive leadership, and department heads, the Vice President will identify growth opportunities, improve organizational performance, advance data-informed decision-making, and deliver sustainable revenue growth across business lines. The role will lead strategic planning, analytics, enterprise initiatives, emerging business opportunities, and performance management while fostering innovation across the organization.
The ideal candidate pairs enterprise-level strategic vision with disciplined execution and a strong command of the sports, entertainment, media, and technology landscape.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Be the trusted advisor to the President, helping shape and prioritize key short-term and long-term business opportunities and risks, providing proactive roadmap
  • Provide leadership and counsel to the rest of the executive team to shape the enterprise-wide strategic plan and assure its alignment with ownership ensuring strategy is clearly communicated, understood and executed
  • Collaborate with revenue leaders to shape and influence commercial strategies, increase efficiency and optimize revenue across ticketing and partnerships, providing strategic oversight on revenue planning, forecasting and performance tracking
  • Lead the execution of the organization's most critical, high-visibility initiatives on behalf of the President
  • Oversee the Senior Leadership Team's delivery against strategic priorities, ensuring streamlined workflows and process optimization
  • Build the infrastructure and technology to lead the Business Strategy and Analytics function to elevate the organization's ability to make data-driven strategic decisions tied to performance growth and fan engagement by development of dashboards, KPIs and reporting frameworks
  • Partner with external stakeholders to ensure successful execution of key initiatives
  • Champion a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This role will supervise the Business Analytics team.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Education
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or equivalent preferred.

Work Experience
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive relevant experience in strategy, business operations, or consulting and operating roles.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in finance, statistics, business consulting or related field.
  • Background in sports, media, entertainment, or consumer businesses preferred.
  • Experience in growth or transformation environments highly desirable.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Experience as a senior strategic leader or advisor to executive leadership.
  • Ability to act as both a trusted advisor and execution partner, influencing enterprise-level decisions, driving alignment and accountability across teams without direct authority.
  • Strong understanding of revenue drivers within sports, media or consumer-facing businesses.
  • Experience supporting and influencing ticketing, partnerships or broader commercial strategy.
  • Ability to connect strategy to measurable business outcomes with.
  • Advanced ability to evaluate and integrate business processes and procedures with proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives end-to-end.
  • Comfortable leveraging data, analytics, and business intelligence tools (e.g. Salesforce, Power BI).
  • Possess excellent reasoning, problem-solving, creative thinking, and communication skills at tactical and strategic levels with ability to translate insights into clear, actionable recommendations for leadership.
  • Ability to distill complex ideas into clear, compelling narratives.
  • Presence and credibility to operate effectively in high-stakes environments.
  • High level of integrity, discretion and sound judgement.
  • Comfortable operating in fast-paced, high-growth, and ambiguous environments

Physical, Environmental Demands
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and all home games and major organizational events.
