Job description

About this search

Vessel Advisors is a national financial-leadership firm that helps growing companies build and strengthen their finance and accounting teams - from fractional CFO and controller support to permanent executive search. We have been exclusively retained by our client to help build their leadership team and are managing this search on their behalf. Our client's identity is kept confidential at this stage and is shared with candidates as the process advances.

About our client

Our client is a well-established direct-to-consumer brand in the consumer-products space, located in northwest Los Angeles. With a strong e-commerce engine and continued growth, they are ready to add a senior finance leader.

The opportunity

A rare hands-on leadership seat - own the numbers today and grow into the senior finance leader of the business. You will run accounting end to end, build the reporting leadership relies on, and partner with the executive team on strategy, costing, and planning. This is a player-coach role: strategic in scope, but close enough to the details to own the close and walk the floor.

What you'll own

  • The full accounting function - close, financial statements, cash, AR, controls - for a multichannel e-commerce business.
  • E-commerce / DTC accounting end to end: marketplace settlements, payment processors, sales-tax nexus, inventory, COGS, and channel-level margin.
  • The reporting and analysis that guide decisions - daily KPIs through full financials.
  • Budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow planning; the banking relationship.
  • Partnership with leadership on costing, pricing, and strategy - with a path to broader finance leadership.
  • Leadership and development of the accounting team.

What you bring

  • 8+ years in accounting/finance, including senior leadership (Controller/Director level).
  • E-commerce / DTC / consumer-products experience; NetSuite strongly preferred.
  • Inventory/COGS, multi-state sales tax, and full-cycle close ownership.
  • Manufacturing or product-operations accounting experience is welcome but not required - the right leader can be developed into it.
  • The maturity and confidence to advise and challenge leadership - proactive, secure, business-minded.
  • Strong GAAP and advanced Excel. CPA not required.

Location & compensation

  • Fully on-site in Chatsworth, CA - convenient to the San Fernando Valley, Simi Valley, and the northwest LA area.
  • $165,000-$180,000 per year, depending on experience.

Our client is an equal opportunity employer.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in accounting/finance, including senior leadership (Controller or Director level).
  • E-commerce, DTC, or consumer-products experience - strongly preferred.
  • Full-cycle close ownership, plus inventory/COGS and multi-state sales tax experience.
  • NetSuite - strongly preferred.
  • Manufacturing or product-operations accounting - welcome but not required; the right leader can be developed into it.
  • Demonstrated ability to build reporting and partner with executive leadership on strategy, costing, and planning.
  • The maturity and confidence to advise and challenge leadership; proactive and business-minded.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and advanced Excel.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; advanced degree a plus.
  • CPA is not required.
  • Able to work on-site in Chatsworth, CA.
