Job description

Job Summary
Hog Slat is seeking a Ventilation Specialist to work with our Swine and Poultry Salesmen on all their ventilation needs. This position will require extensive travel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES amp; RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other functions may be assigned as business conditions change.
  • Work closely with and report to Hog Slat’s Director of Ventilation
  • This will include working with salesmen to get Grower Select ventilation systems accepted in all major integrator systems.
  • Work with retail stores to support ventilation products and customer inquiries
  • Work closely with our engineering team in R amp; D to help tweak and develop ventilation products and systems.
  • Develop and support relationships with industry ventilation experts.
  • Design all styles of ventilation systems for Hog and Poultry houses. Including, but not limited to: Pit ventilation, Tunnel, Minimum ventilation on barns in excess of 60’ wide, attic ventilation, cross ventilation, and air filtration.
  • Recognize and recommend optimum heat sources and management of such to complement our ventilation recommendations and designs.
  • Travel is expected to be 50% but will fluctuate on market demand or customer needs.
  • Some international travel may be required. Ability to acquire a passport is a must.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
The ideal candidate will have the following experience/educational background
  • A strong background in poultry or swine production management
  • Working knowledge of industry approved climate controllers
  • Knowledge of existing engineering principles of ventilation commonly used in both swine and poultry facilities.
  • A strong background in the teachings of Mike Czarick, Jim Donald and other similar recognized experts in the ventilation field is a must.
  • Verbal and written communication is a must. Help develop online resources and write ventilation articles and blogs to help build Grower Select brand name in ventilation.
  • Basic knowledge in Word and Excel
  • Self-starter with ability to follow direction and accomplish goals.
  • Must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record for liability and insurance purposes
