Velocity Physical Therapy is looking for a dedicated and knowledgeable Orthopedic Staff Physical Therapist to join our team in beautiful Tampa, Florida. In this full-time, onsite position, you will play a vital role in assessing, planning, and implementing rehabilitation strategies for patients with orthopedic injuries. Your expertise will help guide patients on their journey to recovery, ensuring they achieve their optimal physical potential.

Work Environment

This position is located within a hospital setting in Tampa, Florida, renowned for its vibrant community and access to numerous recreational and cultural activities. The hospital environment provides a dynamic backdrop where multidisciplinary teams come together to deliver top-notch orthopedic care. With a standard work week from Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, you will enjoy a balanced work-life schedule while being part of an engaging and collaborative healthcare community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct patient evaluations within 24 hours of physician referral, ensuring timely intervention and documentation of any delays.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that align with physiciansโ€™ prescriptions, focusing on restoring functional mobility and pain management.
  • Provide direct patient care through therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, and education.
  • Collaborate with your team and provide supervision to Physical Therapy Assistants during patient care activities, ensuring compliance with state practice acts.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate records, including evaluations, daily treatment notes, and progress updates in accordance with legal and regulatory guidelines.
  • Engage actively in Patient Care Conferences and Rehabilitation Conferences to discuss patient progress and coordinate treatment plans.
  • Lead and participate in in-service training and development programs for staff to enhance skill sets and improve patient outcomes.
  • Support discharge planning efforts by instructing patients' families and nursing staff on home exercise programs and necessary caregiving techniques.
  • Facilitate the acquisition of necessary durable medical equipment to promote patient independence post-discharge.
  • Report any equipment issues promptly to make sure all tools are operational and compliant with safety standards.
Patient Population / Client Focus

As an Orthopedic Staff Physical Therapist, you will primarily work with patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries, sports injuries, and musculoskeletal disorders. You will employ a personalized approach to rehabilitation, striving to understand each patient's unique needs and goals, therefore enabling better patient engagement and adherence to recovery plans.

Qualifications
  • A Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution is required.
  • Current and valid Florida State Licensure as a Physical Therapist is mandatory.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in treatment modalities, manual therapy techniques, and exercise prescription.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and multidisciplinary health teams.
