Job description

Position Overview
International Motors is seeking a Vehicle Environmental & Test Technical Specialist to join our Long-Term Test Group at the International Proving Grounds in New Carlisle, Indiana. This senior-level technical role offers the opportunity to lead hands-on vehicle validation testing that directly impacts the performance of our next-generation commercial vehicles.
The ideal candidate brings experience in vehicle or laboratory testing, data acquisition systems, and advanced instrumentation used for emissions and performance evaluation. This role requires a strong technical foundation, attention to detail, and the ability to independently plan, prepare, execute, and report on complex validation programs from initial setup through final results.
As a key member of our Proving Grounds team, you will validate vehicles in some of the most demanding conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and high-altitude environments. This role can have up to 50% travel, including multi-week assignments at remote test locations throughout the year. This is an exciting opportunity to work in diverse environments while playing a critical role in ensuring our vehicles meet the highest standards of performance, reliability, and customer expectations.
Responsibilities
  • Create detailed test plans from multiple internal customer requests
  • Coordinate a team of mechanics to prepare test vehicles for proper pedigree testing.
  • Coordinate a team of technicians for instrumentation work instructions and data acquisition hardware installation.
  • Coordinate a team of drivers needed to support the given testing
  • Train junior engineers and technicians as necessary to capture data and troubleshoot as necessary to accomplish the mission.
  • Create procedures as necessary for instrumentation and data collection of required mission.
  • Analyze test data and ensure data integrity
  • Create formal test reports.
  • Create documentation necessary for capital planning in maintaining and procuring data acquisition and instrumentation needs.
  • Ensure equipment is properly stored, maintained and calibrated for testing needs

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science and at least 9 years of product design/development or new technologies and/or computer science experience
  • At least 2 years of lead experience

OR
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science and at least 5 years of product design/development or new technologies and/or computer science experience
  • At least 2 years of lead experience

OR
  • PhD in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science and at least 3 years of product design/development or new technologies and/or computer science experience
  • At least 2 years of lead experience

Additional Requirements
  • Qualified candidates, excluding current employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. We do not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)
