Job description

Job Description
This position is responsible for providing routine non-medical transportation services for Centra Ground Transport under the direction of the Transport Supervisor(s) or designee. The Driver will be responsible for providing a safe and enriching experience for every individual from door to door. Driver will possess good communication skills. The Driver will perform pre & post vehicle safety inspections, follow scheduled transports, report & handle vehicle maintenance issues and communicate all participant/patient needs to immediate supervisor.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Providing exceptional door to door care to all Centra patients.
  • Entering safely into patient homes on a routine basis.
  • Communicating all patient changes & needs to direct supervisor.
  • Performing pre & post shift vehicle safety inspections, assuring vehicle is in proper operational condition and reporting any maintenance issues to relevant personnel.
  • Maintain cleanliness of interior & exterior of Centra vehicle.
  • Maintain all necessary records/documentation regarding participants/patients & vehicles.
  • Transport patients who are ambulatory, wheelchair, and van stretcher.
  • Communicating frequent changes to direct supervisor or Shift Lead.
  • Ability to rapidly adapt to changes between van stretcher, wheelchair shuttle, mental health, and courtesy shuttle transports.
  • Performs other reasonable duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Valid Virginia driver's license
  • Within six months of hire:
    • VAVRS or VDFP EVOC (emergency vehicle operations course) level 2
    • CPR First Aid
    • PASS (Passenger Assistance, Safety and Sensitivity) training

Preferred Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Previous experience in direct support, medical transport, nonmedical transport, stretcher van, or EMS experience
