The VDC QA and QC Lead is responsible for establishing and maintaining quality standards for all Virtual Design and Construction deliverables. This role builds and manages the QA and QC framework for the department, leads the development of standardized processes, and ensures consistent model and documentation quality across all projects. The position works closely with the VDC Operations Manager to support day to day execution but retains ownership of VDC quality systems, audits, controls, and cross functional alignment. As the QA and QC program matures, this role may lead a small team and develop specialized QA and QC capabilities.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field.

Experience:5+ years of experience in VDC, BIM, or technical coordination experience.

  • Expert understanding of VDC tools such as Revit, Navisworks, Revizto, Guardian, and ACC.

  • Experience building or managing QA and QC programs in construction or engineering.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving ability with high attention to detail.

  • Clear communication skills and ability to influence cross functional groups.

Travel: 10-20%

Work Schedule:Typical work hours are between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday. However, work may need to be performed at any time on any day of the week to meet business needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Develops QA and QC Framework

  • Create, maintains, and enhances the VDC quality program including standards, checklists, review procedures, and control points.

  • Defines how quality is measured, documented, and enforced across the department.

  • Partners with Constructability to refine and align deliverables by project, ensuring modeling obligations reflect actual scope of work and support more efficient creation of final installation drawings.

Quality Audits and Compliance

  • Performs regular audits of VDC models, drawings, documentation, and workflows to ensure alignment with department standards.

  • Documents issues, track trends, and ensures corrective actions are implemented.

QA and QC Process Creation and Continuous Improvement

  • Designs new QA and QC processes, refines existing workflows, and identifies gaps in standards.

  • Partners with VDC leadership Team to confirm process adoption without duplicating operational oversight.

Training and Enablement

  • Collaborates with the VDC Training Lead to create QA and QC focused training plans, onboarding content, and targeted upskilling for teams.

  • Ensures clarity of expectations for supervisors, detailers, coordinators, and modelers.

Quality Reporting and Metrics

  • Develops and maintains quality dashboards, audit logs, and performance summaries. Presents QA and QC findings to the VDC Director and leadership teams with recommendations for improvement.

Cross Functional Alignment

  • Collaborates with Product Design, Excellerate, Field Engineering, and external partners to ensure VDC quality standards integrate with upstream and downstream workflows.

Future Team Leadership

  • As quality systems scale, helps define QA and QC staffing needs and potentially leads future direct reports responsible for auditing, documentation, and compliance.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
