Marketing Department
The marketing team is responsible for Vantage's brand, identity and positioning in the global marketplace. The department further leads public and analyst relations to ensure constituents are educated on Vantage's products, services and markets. The team partners with sales, new site development, construction, finance, people and culture, public policy, internal communications and other departments to grow market share, acquire and retain customers, expand into new geographies, understand customer sentiment and promote the company as an employer of choice.
Position Overview
This role is based in Sterling, Virginia with a flexible work arrangement: 3 days on-site and 2 days remote.
The Director of Public Relations will lead Vantage's PR strategy, content development and social media channels. This hands-on role will lead all aspects of global PR and support the company's regional (North America, EMEA and APAC) PR strategy and execution. Key focus areas include developing the PR strategy, coordinating with PR agencies, handling media relations, updating content calendars, drafting content (press releases, blog articles, award nominations, case studies, etc.) and leading all social media channels.
The individual will report directly to the Senior Director, Marketing, Global and will collaborate with various partners and teams within the company to achieve department, regional and global goals.
Essential Job Functions
  • Develop global PR strategy; partner with PR agencies and regional marketing leads to implement and report on effectiveness.
  • Create content calendar in collaboration with regional marketing leads and write original content to support the needs of the business (blog articles, award nominations, etc.).
  • Supervise all social media channels; develop a roadmap and critical metrics to determine effectiveness.
  • Develop annual PR plan to promote Vantage's mission, brand and services; oversee corporate agency and support regions with PR strategies and execution.
  • Supervise media and analyst relations; develop relationships with journalists and analysts to ensure Vantage's story is reported on accurately and timely.
  • Write and edit press releases, media kit and other external communications.
  • Find opportunities for executive transparency through interviews, awards, speaking opportunities, thought leadership, etc.
  • Monitor media coverage, public sentiment and competitor PR strategies to advise and adjust strategy.
  • Lead all aspects of PR metrics and reporting; share with leadership and key partners on a regular basis.
  • Evaluate speaking opportunities to determine best fit and spokespersons; provide talking points and key messages for speakers.
  • Lead awards programs, working with agencies and internal team members to identify and nominate Vantage for awards.
  • Partner with internal communications to ensure consistency of internal/external communications.
  • Build editorial calendar with marketing regional leads and other internal parties. Draft content and supervise external writers to write original copy and edit content from others.
  • Be responsible for social media channels, including editorial calendar, content creation and reporting.
  • Handle additional duties as assigned by Management.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or equivalent experience required.
  • 7-10 years of experience.
  • Data center experience is strongly preferred but not required.
  • Experience working in both agency and in-house environments.
  • Proven success developing and driving PR strategies that deliver measurable business results in a high-growth company.
  • Familiarity with digital and social media trends.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills.
  • Strong leadership, communication and project management skills.
  • Experience working in a matrixed global organization.
  • Exhibit executive presence and confidence to regularly interact with leaders across the organization.
  • Knowledge of Associated Press (AP) Style is highly desired.
  • Travel required is expected to be 5 to 10%, generally traveling to other Vantage offices/data centers. Travel may increase over time as the business evolves.

Additional Details
  • Salary Range: $165,000-175,000 Base + Bonus (this range is based on Colorado market data and may vary in other locations)

  • Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including your qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
