Job description

Overview

Appian is hiring a Customer Success Consultant to help our commercial clients design, develop and deploy custom software and AI solutions on the Appian platform. The role involves working throughout the full project life‑cycle, collaborating closely with clients’ technical and business teams, and driving adoption of process applications at their facilities. This position is located at our headquarters in McLean, Virginia and requires a strong presence in the office.

Responsibilities
  • Engage with post‑sales customers to define and refine business processes and technical requirements.
  • Design, develop and implement relational data models, APIs, and integration points (REST, SOAP, JDBC) in production.
  • Apply Appian’s AI capabilities—retrieval‑augmented generation, agentic workflows, prompt engineering and generative models—to create AI‑powered solutions.
  • Work within an agile environment, participating in pair programming, stand‑ups, sprint planning and retrospectives.
  • Collaborate with client technical teams and end users to ensure solutions meet business objectives and enable self‑service adoption.
  • Maintain and develop automated test suites within a continuous integration framework.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 1 year of hands‑on software development or technical consulting experience.
  • B.S./B.A. in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of object‑oriented programming, relational databases, data modelling and SQL.
  • Experience with API integration (REST, SOAP, JDBC) and familiarity with AWS, AI/ML, Google Cloud, container technologies.
  • Understanding of test‑driven development and continuous delivery principles.
  • Ability to work in an agile, cross‑functional team environment.
  • Travel up to 20% per year to support client engagements.
  • Active Top Secret clearance without limitations is required; the candidate must be willing to maintain TS:SCI clearance and work in SCIF environments.
