The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Protection and Control Technician with strong technical expertise in protective relaying, commissioning, and troubleshooting. You'll support complex testing activities, collaborate with engineering teams, and ensure high‑quality execution across substation projects.

What You'll Do

  • Perform commissioning, installation, and maintenance of protective relaying equipment, DFRs, SCADA systems, and automation systems.
  • Conduct end‑to‑end relay testing using Doble Protection Suite, Omicron Test Universe, and RTS.
  • Execute functional and scheme testing including reclosing, breaker failure, logic schemes, and communication‑assisted protection.
  • Troubleshoot protocols such as DNP3, Modbus, and 8979 using Wireshark, Accelerator, and ASE 2000.
  • Support development of standardized testing procedures.
  • Collaborate with clients, vendors, and engineering teams to ensure reliable project outcomes.
  • Provide guidance to junior technicians when needed.

Preferred Experience

  • 1–5 years field experience in relay testing, calibration, or substation commissioning without direct supervision.
  • Strong understanding of three‑phase power systems and protection schemes.
  • Proficiency with Omicron, Doble, Vanguard, and related test equipment.
  • Skilled in RTS, Test Universe, Protection Suite, and Accelerator.
  • Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel.
