Utility Locator Pay Range: $25-$30/hr subject to Prevailing Wage

The DDS Companies is seeking an experienced Utility locator for its rapidly growing gas distribution division in the Capital Region of NY (office located in Duanesburg, NY). In this fast-paced, field-based role you will be responsible for locating and marking underground utility services including gas, electric, water, and telecommunications so that our crews may safely complete their excavations and gas service installations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Uses utility maps, engineered drawings, Docuware information, and various pipe and electronic locating equipment
  • Utilizes stakes, flags, and/or paint to mark the location of underground utilities
  • Prepares various reports, forms, and memos to document work completed, and problems encountered and/or resolved
  • Investigates and prepares detailed written documentation on excavations that result in damage to underground utilities

Skills and Experience

Required

  • Knowledge of utility locating practices and procedures
  • Read and interpret utility maps and engineered drawings
  • Materials, equipment, rules, regulations, and ordinances governing the installation, repair, and maintenance of underground utilities

Preferred

  • City-required safety procedures
  • Applicable State and local vehicle ordinances
  • High school diploma
