The Value Stream Manager (VSM) is the Integrated Project Team leader within a production or depot manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will report to the Factory Manager and be accountable for the daily management and direction of a cross functional team which includes the Value Stream Lead (VSL), Production Support team (ME, PTE, IE, QE, PC) and Production engineering/test support team. The VSM will be tasked to generate, maintain, and execute clear operational schedules, priorities, goals while collaborating with functional management to allow for continuous manufacturing of line-flow or end-item products. Additionally, the VSM will have accountability for production, depot deliveries, failure investigation and triage, direction to production support, prioritization of design engineering support and safety within their factory area.

This position involves direct support of manufacturing activities and requires spending significant amounts of time in and around factory areas. The candidate must be capable and willing to work extended hours (when required) in a fast-paced deadline driven environment. The ideal candidate will possess the demonstrated skills and experience necessary to perform in both manufacturing and technical leadership roles.

What You Will Do

  • Direct supervision of Value Stream Leaders (VSL) and responsibility for 20+ bargaining unit employees and additional support/technical personnel.
  • Collaboration and communication with upstream and downstream VSMs and leadership.
  • Utilization of knowledge of manufacturing principles, manufacturing support team roles and responsibilities and manufacturing systems in support of initiatives, projects, improvements, and efforts.
  • Overseeing and leading the generation, development and sustainment of product focused processes, tooling, equipment, and test architecture.
  • Personnel performance input for all related functions and career development of team members including coaching and mentoring.
  • Perform a wide variety of sequencing, planning, scheduling, coordinating, failure triage support and reporting tasks in support of the manufacturing workflow.
  • Compiling labor forecasts and Estimates at Compete (EACs) for the support and touch employees.
  • Strategic planning development for short term execution as well as long range planning
  • Define and Execute priorities relating to safety, people, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Interact with support engineering, supply chain, and quality with respect to project schedules.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum ten (10) years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum seven (7) years' experience.
  • Experience with either manufacturing or operations.
  • Supervisory or managerial experience.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Previous experience leading a direct team with specific deadlines, requirements, or deliverables.

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
