The Building People, LLC seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to provide on-call electrical engineering services for government facility projects. The Senior Electrical Engineer provides recommendations on electrical materials, systems, and equipment; performs analysis and design of prime power and low-voltage systems; and establishes design criteria and solutions for the study, design, and construction of normal and emergency electrical distribution systems, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), building generators, lighting systems (interior, exterior, and architectural), grounding, power monitoring, and control systems. Services also include code reviews, value engineering, life cycle cost analysis, quality control, and construction administration.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience in electrical engineering within commercial or federal building environments
  • Experience designing and analyzing prime power and low-voltage systems, including normal and emergency electrical distribution systems
  • Proficiency developing electrical engineering calculations and establishing design criteria for complex facility electrical systems
  • Experience with building generator design, uninterruptible power supply systems, grounding, and power monitoring systems
  • Demonstrated experience in interior, exterior, and architectural lighting system design
  • Ability to perform code reviews, value engineering, and life cycle cost analyses
  • Experience providing quality control and construction administration services
  • All personnel must obtain and maintain a Public Trust (Level 3) security clearance.

Preferred Experience & Skills

  • Experience on federal or law enforcement facility electrical systems projects
  • Familiarity with GSA electrical design standards and federal facility requirements
  • Experience with control systems design and power monitoring platforms for large commercial facilities

Required Education

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) or Master of Science (M.S.) Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university engineering program
  • Active registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the relevant jurisdiction

Preferred Education

  • Master of Science (M.S.) Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Additional credentials or training in power systems, control systems, or emergency power design
