Job description

Job Summary:
Genesis10 is currently seeking a Senior Network Engineer for a contract position with a Major Energy Company located in Charlotte, NC. This senior-level role is responsible for Tier 3 network support and enterprise network architecture, focusing on designing, implementing, and managing complex routing, switching, and VoIP solutions.
Responsibilities:
• Serve as a senior escalation point (Tier 3) for complex network, routing, and VoIP issues, providing root cause analysis and long-term solutions
• Design, implement, and optimize enterprise network architecture, including LAN/WAN, edge, and core routing environments
• Lead configuration, deployment, and lifecycle management of Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and related infrastructure
• Architect and manage VoIP solutions (Cisco Call Manager, SIP, QoS), ensuring high availability and performance
• Own routing strategy and implementation, including advanced configuration and troubleshooting of BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP across distributed environments
• Proactively monitor, analyze, and tune network performance, capacity, and reliability using tools such as SolarWinds and PRTG
• Lead network-related projects, including upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure transformations, ensuring minimal disruption and adherence to timelines
• Develop and enforce network standards, documentation, and operational procedures across the organization
• Partner with security teams to implement and maintain network security controls, including segmentation, firewall policies, and VPN architecture
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing, technical standards, and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
• 4+ years of progressive experience in network engineering, including architecture and Tier 3 support
• Deep hands-on expertise with Cisco routing and switching
• Advanced experience with VoIP technologies, including Cisco Call Manager, SIP, and QoS design
• Strong expertise in enterprise routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) in complex, multi-site environments
• Experience with network monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, or similar)
• Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, QoS, and firewall technologies
• Proven experience designing and implementing scalable and resilient network architectures
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to lead incident response and drive root cause resolution
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and influence technical decisions
Preferred:
• CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent experience strongly preferred
