The Company
Ingles Markets began in 1963 as a single supermarket and has since grown into a regional grocery store chain with just under 200 retail locations operating in 6 southeastern states, a 1.6-million-square foot distribution center, two truck fleets, and a milk processing plant. Ingles Markets' headquarters and distribution center are located just 15 minutes outside of Asheville, NC in the town of Black Mountain.

The Position
The Network Administrator - Voice oversees the phone system of the corporate and warehouse facilities. This position is responsible for maintaining, supporting, and designing the telecommunications systems and troubleshooting telephony-related network connections, access control, and other telephony-affecting data network systems. The role is responsible for all front-line support incidents and requests from the end users of the phone system and includes the day-to-day management of resources attached to the PBX directly. This is a hybrid-working role with 2-3 days per week onsite required.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, test, troubleshoot, modify, and service voice and data telecommunications equipment and devices.
  • Evaluate telecommunications equipment and devices and establish reasoning for updates or replacements; Ensure equipment and devices are running on the appropriate software version.
  • Perform daily system monitoring to identify potential problems and proactively suggest improvements when called upon.
  • Test, validate, and implement configuration changes on devices using defined procedures.
  • Evaluate systems performance levels and improve capabilities as needed.
  • Configure, update or troubleshoot carrier-side issues.
  • Manage and provide technical advice on telecommunications systems.
  • Document plans, requests, activities, and specifications and report on them.
  • Document all configurations and changes to ensure appropriate protocol.
  • Program features, design systems, and allocate resources as necessary.
  • Monitor and test systems and peripheral equipment and troubleshoot problems.
  • Interact and escalate issues with vendors and third-party groups.
  • Cooperate with management to develop staff and improve their skills.
  • Respond to assigned tickets/tasks efficiently and quickly to achieve daily and monthly metrics.

The Ideal Candidate:
  • BS/BA in Computer Science/Information Systems
  • 5+ years of experience with IP telephony experience in an enterprise IT environment.
  • 5+ years of experience with Sangoma Asterisk/FreePBX, Grandstream, NEC and Vertical PBX, Linux CLI, and bash scripting, and Cisco route/switch experience are a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience with IPv4 subnetting.
  • Familiarity with LAN/WAN network topology design, SIP protocol (chan_sip/pjsip), QoS, ethernet T-568B cable pinout.
  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods.
  • Required to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to work in a sub-freezing temperature environment.
  • Ability to operate an automobile and industrial/heavy machinery.
  • Willingness to perform technical tasks in high aerial locations.
