Job Title: Network Administrator & System Architect

Reports To: Director of Information Technology

Position Overview: Provides technical and analytical expertise in support of PVA’s IT Infrastructure.  Manages these IT assets to support the PVA Senior Leadership, Program Directors, all National Office staff, and all Service Offices.

Position responsibilities and duties:

  • Serves as an IT network architect and manager for PVA’s data centers, and networks (WAN/LAN/SAN), including physical, virtual & cloud infrastructure assets.
  • Responsible for the maintenance, evaluation, testing and implementation of ongoing enhancements of PVA’s IT infrastructure including hardware and software assets such as network operating system software, switch, router, storage, server hardware, virtualization software, application software, backup systems, internal web servers, firewalls, cloud applications and cloud systems.
  • Establishes and maintains system security for the PVA networks (WAN/LAN), PVA applications, corporate internet access and PVA managed endpoints.
  • Establishes and maintains data protection/backup and recovery scheme for PVA IT assets in PVA data centers and IT managed cloud assets.
  • Responsible for IT infrastructure capacity planning and implementation.
  • Supports IT, staff members, by developing end-user and technical documentation relating to the PVA WAN/LAN.
  • Provides technical training for PVA’s IT infrastructure to IT staff as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in computer science or related IT discipline preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience administering a complex Linux/Microsoft/vSphere network and VoIP phone systems.
  • 2-3 years of experience managing routers, switches, and appliances by Juniper, Cisco, Riverbed, and Palo Alto Networks.
  • In-depth working knowledge of network architectures, network operating systems, protocols, security methods and models.
  • Understanding of diverse workstation operating systems, including Windows and Mac O/S
  • Familiarity with enterprise database systems such as Oracle, MS SQL
  • Certifications: JNCIA-Junos, VCAP, LPIC-2 or LPIC-3, Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, Microsoft 365 Certified: Messaging Administrator Associate, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate, GIAC Security Essentials.
