JOB TITLE:
Programmer Analyst - Institutional Advancement & UW Foundation
JOB PURPOSE:
Under general supervision, the Programmer Analyst analyzes user needs and develops, tests, and supports technical solutions that assist the Foundation and University in meeting operational goals. This position performs routine to moderately complex programming and scripting, supports automated reporting and data processing functions, and assists with integrations and system enhancements across CRM Advance (Microsoft Dynamics 365) and related on-site and cloud-based systems.
The role provides technical support and troubleshooting, helps identify and resolve data discrepancies, and documents system changes to ensure reliability and accuracy. The Programmer Analyst works collaboratively with users and IT professionals to gather requirements, complete assigned project tasks, and support implementation efforts, escalating or consulting with senior staff or a supervisor when broader impact, elevated risk, or complex design decisions are involved.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop client partnerships for effectively communicating with users to incorporate their needs and changes to correct problem situations.
  • Install, modify, and maintain basic hardware and software for department computers and local area networks (LAN) stations; configure computers and write documentation.
  • Write and test basic and routine computer programs or scripts using languages such as SQL, C#, Python, and/or C++ to support automated reporting, systems functionality, and integrations, within established project timelines and coding standards.
  • Provide technical support for administrative data processing functions.
  • May perform similar work on separate modules within larger, complicated programs.
  • Develop cross-checks and other tests; use tests to analyze application or programming problems; correct problems within set project deadlines.
  • Develop a working understanding of ongoing functional operations.
  • Produce effective reports for department.

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Provide computer, program application, and report writing instructions to users.
  • May provide backup support to major programs with critical effects.
  • Maintain currency in programming field; may recommend equipment and software purchases for department
  • Promote teamwork and information sharing within designated division, and as appropriate, with other divisions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 1-year work-related experience in computer programming is preferred
  • Must have programming experience and fluency in one of the following languages: Must have programming experience and fluency in one of the following languages: C#, Python, SQL, C++, or JavaScript

  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Microsoft Visual Studio, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Dynamics CRM 365, including solutions, entities, fields, forms, relationships, dashboards, Advanced Finds, charts, workflows, SSRS reports, and business rules.
  • Experience and knowledge using APIs to complete integrations with onsite and cloud systems.
