General Description:
Under minimum supervision and general direction of the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent, the Treatment Foreman will be responsible, on the Department's premises and in the field, for management and supervision of the Water Department's Treatment operations and work crews, including, but not limited to, planning, organizing, scheduling and implementing the operation, maintenance, repair and replacement of water system infrastructure, equipment, structures and building equipment. The Treatment Foreman will be responsible for supervising, scheduling, assigning work to and directing Water Department employees in the performance of the water treatment work of the Department during regular hours and on overtime, for implementation of appropriate safety measures and for managing the work of the Department efficiently and effectively; will assume and exercise responsibility for all daily and periodic functions to insure proper operation and control of the Reservoir Treatment Plant, wells, tanks and pumping facilities; for the safety, chemical treatment and water quality for all customers; for directing other employees in lower- and equally-rated classifications in the performance of the work assigned to them; performing the work of all such classifications to the extent qualified and required; and performing and directing performance of job duties assigned to employees and work crews.
Minimum Job Requirements:
To be considered for this position, the person must satisfy the following minimum requirements:
- Possess upon application and maintain during employment State of Connecticut Certification - Water-Treatment Plant Class IV License.
- ·Possess a valid high school or technical school diploma or GED acceptable to the Department.
- Possess and maintain in force, in accordance with applicable State law, a valid State of Connecticut Motor Vehicle Operator License that is not in jeopardy of suspension or revocation;
- Possess a minimum five (5) years' Water Treatment experience in water utility operations;
