ย

About Sunset Valley Construction

We're a sitework and underground utilities contractor focused on building and maintaining essential infrastructure. Our team is projected to double in size over the next 4 years, providing career growth opportunities and a team that builds projects while building up people.

How Youโ€™ll Contribute

We're growing, increasing capacity, and building a stronger field team with room for people to move into higher-level roles over time. Youโ€™ll support field operations by preparing work, using tools, and staying one step ahead of excavation and utility crews on roadwork, site work, and commercial/multifamily development projects.

What Youโ€™ll Get To Do

  • Keep the pipe going in the ground with quality and start to build your personal license library.
  • Install ductile iron, SDR35, HDPE, RCP and more for water, sewer, and drainage systems
  • Protect crew time by keeping equipment organized, accounted for, and ready to use
  • Keep work accurate using hand tools, small power tools, rotary lasers, and field technology
  • Support quality underground utility work by helping with trench work, drainage, water mains, stakes, grades, blueprints, and elevations, where your experience allows
  • Help the crew work better together by staying aware of what is happening around you
  • Build toward the next field role by learning the path from Pipe Layer to Foreman to Superintendent

Who You Are

  • You bring 2+ years of underground utility installation. We may also consider other related field experience.
  • Youโ€™re comfortable using hand tools and small power tools
  • You can use rotary lasers, and want to become more fluent in elevations
  • You can think through challenges that require math to make practical decisions
  • You like physical, hands-on work where the day moves quickly, the work changes rapidly, and your part helps the crew make visible progress.
  • You have a valid driverโ€™s license and reliable transportation
  • Youโ€™re authorized to work in the United States

Even Better, But Not Required

  • Experience installing drainage or water mains
  • Experience working in trench boxes
  • Experience using Topcon GPS
  • Ability to perform layout, including stakes and grades
  • Ability to read blueprints

Typical Schedule

Typical hours are 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Work is consistent year-round, weather-dependent, with about 5 hours of overtime per week. Projects range from 4 weeks to 2 years. Travel is minimal and focused around the greater Hartford area. We do not plow snow in the winter, and paving/concrete work is minimal.

Whatโ€™s In It For You

  • $37 to $45 per hour
  • Clear field path: Pipe Layer โ†’ Foreman โ†’ Superintendent
  • Apprenticeship opportunities
  • Training and development support

Health & Financial

  • Health, Dental, and Vision insurance after 3 months
  • 100% employer coverage
  • 401K with 3% company match after 3 months
  • Professional personal financial advice

Perks & Lifestyle

  • Newer equipment with modern technology
  • Two prepaid plane tickets anywhere in the USA once a year for personal use
  • Personal use of SVC equipment, as long as it does not interfere with work schedules
  • Office staff support for data tracking, emails, computer usage, and scheduling

Team & Culture

  • Low-ego, family-first, faith-driven culture
  • Mission-oriented leadership
  • Clear respectful communication
  • Mentorship and leadership development
  • Continually improving systems and communication
ย

We are an equal opportunity employer and consider applicants for employment based on qualifications and merit, without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected status.
