Utility Locator Technician (Entry‑Level)

Pay: $21.50–$25.00/hour (based on experience)

Schedule: Monday – Friday | Start time 7:00 AM until work is completed


Job Description:

Join a respected Utility Engineering and Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) firm and build a long‑term career in the infrastructure industry. As an Entry‑Level Utility Locator Technician, you’ll receive hands‑on, paid training while working alongside experienced professionals in a safety‑first environment.

This year‑round, outdoor role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with equipment, being active in the field, and developing specialized technical skills that lead to long‑term advancement.


Job Duties:
  • Locate, identify, and document underground utilities at active job sites
  • Assist crews with locating and occasionally exposing sewer and other underground utility systems
  • Operate SUE locating and designating equipment (pipe and cable locators, vacuum excavation tools)
  • Use hand and power tools, including jackhammers, pogo tampers, concrete saws, air lances, and vacuum hoses
  • Maintain accurate daily reports and perform basic math calculations
  • Assist with traffic control setup and follow all safety procedures
  • Support survey crews with field data collection
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.50 - $25.00/hr.
