The Role:

This position is a key member of the Technical Accounting team, reporting to the Technical Accounting Manager. This position plays a critical role in collaborating with the Technical Accounting team to perform thorough accounting research on complex business issues, including documentation on the Company's conclusions and positions. This position will work closely with other accounting teams, various business departments, and upper management. 

Day to Day:
  • Act as a consultation resource for technical accounting issues and complex business transactions throughout the Company, including the review of various business contracts for accounting implications.
  • Actively participate in due diligence efforts and lead the accounting for business combinations in accordance with ASC 805.
  • Research and document technical accounting issues, providing recommendations to management for resolution.
  • Partner with the Financial Reporting Analysts to ensure the Company's external disclosures are complete and in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Monitor emerging FASB and SEC accounting guidance for new or proposed changes to existing guidance that may impact the Company.
  • Prepare materials for the Company's Disclosure, Finance, and Audit Committees.
  • Assist with the accounting and disclosure of the Company's leases, stock-based compensation transactions and pension accounting in accordance with ASC 842, ASC 718 and ASC 715, respectively, and other relevant accounting guidance.
  • Support the Company's debt and equity financings.
  • Assist with the preparation and review of the Proxy Statement.
  • Participate as a technical resource in the external audit process. 
  • Complete internal control procedures to ensure compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. 
  • Demonstrates appropriate leadership and decision-making behaviors.
  • Maintain technical accounting knowledge and personal skill development. 
  • Lead, contribute to, or participate in ad hoc projects as required. 
  • Support the Company's commitment to a culture of safe work practices.
Come on your first day with:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting and CPA certificate are required.  
  • Minimum five years of applied accounting experience. Public accounting experience is preferred.
  • Experience in a utility operation and knowledge of standard utility accounting and public utility reporting and filing requirements are highly desired.
  • Knowledge and experience in applying US GAAP and consolidation principles are required.  
  • Knowledge of SEC reporting disclosures and requirements is desired.  
  • Experience using SAP or another general ledger or other financial software system is preferred.
  • Analytical skills are required, including the ability to critically think and apply technical accounting knowledge to business requirements, including understanding the impacts of decisions made. 
  • Verbal and written communication skills are required. 
  • Requires excellent attention to detail while keeping the big picture in mind.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively with limited supervision.
  • Requires outstanding ethical standards and values consistent with those of the Company. 
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally across an organization and in a team environment.

Base salary range: $98,450.00 - $140,300.00 per year, depending on qualifications

Annual Target Incentive: Level 3, 9.5% target
Targets are calculated using eligible earnings during plan year participation. Payout, if earned, is based on company and individual performance for each plan year and may range from 0% - 200% of target. Targets are subject to change in subsequent plan years. Must be employed by September 30 in order to receive any prorated payout.
