Job Title: Post Office Clerk

Department: Administrative

Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor

Classification: Non-Exempt


Position Summary

The Post Office Clerk is responsible for the daily operation of campus mail and parcel services, ensuring the accurate receipt, sorting, processing, and delivery of incoming and outgoing mail and packages.


Essential Functions:

  • Pick up USPS mail at the Highland Park Post Office (HPPO) and deliver to campus
  • Sort the USPS mail into campus boxes (faculty, staff & student)
  • Sort FedEx and UPS parcels when they arrive in the Campus Post Office
  • Sort and load carrier packages into Parcel Pending lockers
  • Deliver mail & parcels to designated administrative offices around campus
  • Pick-up outgoing mail & parcels from designated administrative offices around campus
  • Process outgoing mail and deliver to HPPO at end of day
  • Process outgoing USPS & FedEx packages
  • Operation of postage processing and accounting equipment
  • Sustain small inventory of postal supplies for mail room use
  • Produce monthly postage reports
  • Maintain and assign P.O. boxes for offices, faculty & campus residents
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, non-exempt position with normal working hours Monday through Friday, working 40 hours per week. However, as business needs become necessary, after-hours, holidays, or weekends may be required.
