Job Summary
Manages a team responsible for applying user-centered design principles to improve the workflow, expand the functionality, and enhance the visual appeal of websites and mobile applications. Leads the creation of new features based on results from user research and usability testing.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities
  • Oversees the gathering of requirements from users and stakeholders and guides the overall development of information architecture for user experience projects.
  • Works with key stakeholders to understand and align user experience efforts across products and initiatives.
  • Studies and evaluates how users feel about a system, including ease of use, perception of value, and efficiency in performing tasks.
  • Translates user needs and business requirements into features and functionalities for web and mobile experiences.
  • Creates visual designs, identifies and understands user journeys, and builds wireframes for development teams.
  • Presents complex design concepts, user needs, and design rationales to cross-functional teams, business partners, and senior leadership.
  • Reviews work from designers to ensure designs are aligned with company, stakeholder, and end user priorities.
  • Fosters collaboration across product teams to design solutions and share best practices.

Nature and Scope
  • Solutions require analysis and investigation.
  • Achieves planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, business principles, and practical experience.
  • Manages a group or team of professional individual contributors and/or indirectly supervises support staff.

Work Environment
  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience
  • Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 7+ years of experience in a related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.
