Job Description:

Are you a sales leader who is passionate about coaching, advisor development and helping new advisors build successful careers? The ADP Sales Manager plays a critical role in supporting the growth, productivity and readiness of advisors within Sun Life's Advisor Development Program. This program provides a unique opportunity to help high potential candidates accelerate their development and establish successful advisory careers at Sun Life.

In this role, you will lead, coach and develop a team of advisors, helping them build confidence, strengthen sales capabilities and deliver meaningful outcomes for clients. Through structured coaching, performance management and partnership with field leadership teams, you will support advisor success while fostering professional growth and business development.

What will you do?

People Leadership and Sales Management:

  • Lead, coach and develop a team of Insurance and/or Wealth licensed Advisors
  • Support the onboarding and readiness of advisors, through expectation setting, success measures and key milestones within the program
  • Champion the development of early career advisors, helping high-potential talent build the skills, confidence, and business acumen required for long term success
  • Create an environment that accelerates advisor growth through structured coaching, ongoing feedback and developmental experiences that prepare advisors for successful transitions beyond the Advisor Development Program
  • Provide day to day guidance and direction to the team to support advisor development, productivity and achieve sales results
  • Support advisors in building foundational sales capabilities, including prospecting and holistic needs-based conversations
  • Conduct regular coaching conversations to assess advisor progress, identify capability gaps and implement individualized development plans in partnership with field leadership teams
  • Monitor progress through the program, identifying development opportunities and supporting successful transitions to the next stage of their advisory career at Sun Life
  • Manage the day-to-day sales and service function, ensuring that both the sales and service elements of the teams are functioning optimally
  • Workforce planning and scheduling to ensure optimal coverage

Sales Strategy & Delivery:

  • Work closely with leadership team to design, execute and measure client contact campaigns, supporting Assisted Advice strategies
  • Relentless focus on data and insights for the team - collaborate with Analytics team, drive to close data gaps, analyze results, provide feedback, and recommend improvements to leadership.
  • Assist in the creation of a client and sales-centric atmosphere including a focus on client retention and loyalty
  • Ensure that Advisors and Financial Planners maintain their understanding of wealth, life, health benefits products, and trends with the marketplace
  • Build and maintain relationships with Individual distribution team, Dealer leaders and compliance partners
  • Drive achievement of key advisor development, sales activity, productivity, advisor progression and conversion objectives, ensuring the program continues to serve as a key talent pipeline for future SLFD advisors

Continuous Improvement:

  • Be a catalyst for positive change, identifying areas for growth
  • Identify strengths/gaps to develop team capability and skills - turning good to great
  • Work with the best practices function, represent and advocate for the team's change requirements to ensure training and process improvements are timely and relevant

What do you need to succeed?

Key Skills and Experience:

  • 8+ years of sales leadership experience
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Distribution, Insurance and Wealth business
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, develop and manage advisors in a performance-driven sales environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a complex, matrixed environment, building strong partnerships across distribution, recruiting, learning, operations, compliance, and other cross-functional teams to deliver shared business objectives
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and presentation skills, with the ability to translate data into insights and recommendations
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Flexibility and the ability to adapt to a frequently changing regulatory environment
  • Passion for relationship building: managing relationships with key external and internal business partners
  • Strong sales and service orientation
  • Knowledge and experience of industry compliance standards and practices

Licensing requirements (preferred not required):

  • Successful completion of the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) or IFIC
  • Life, Accident and Sickness licensed
  • MFDA Branch Manager status, includes successful completion of the Branch Manager's Course, and minimum of 2 years relevant experience

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
