Job description

Position Summary

The Associate Electrical & Automation Technician supports day-to-day electrical operations while leading PLC and automation system programming, troubleshooting, and commissioning efforts. This role combines hands-on electrical work with industrial automation and control systems to support header house operations and other company facilities.

Key ResponsibilitiesAutomation & Controls
  • Build, program, troubleshoot, and commission PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems.
  • Develop and maintain automation solutions using Siemens PCS7, TIA Portal, Ignition, and Aveva PI Historian.
  • Support system improvements, upgrades, and operational reliability initiatives.
Electrical & Technical Support
  • Assist with electrical installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and facilities.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues involving electrical systems, instrumentation, and control logic.
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and IT teams to support automation and operational technology systems.
Project Support
  • Participate in all phases of projects, including design, installation, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and in compliance with company standards.
Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field plus 1 year of automation/controls experience; OR
  • 5+ years of automation/controls experience and 1+ year of electrical experience.

Technical Skills

  • Experience with PLC, DCS, HMI, and SCADA systems, preferably Siemens and/or Allen-Bradley platforms.
  • Knowledge of Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagram (FBD), and/or Structured Text (ST).
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, P&IDs, and technical drawings.
  • Python, SQL, or scripting experience is a plus.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in industrial environments and at heights when required.
