Job description

We’re partnering with a well-established NYC-based studio that has been an industry powerhouse for over 25 years – during this time, some of the most iconic film and photo shoots have happened in their studios.

In recent weeks, they’ve made a major investment to turn some of their space into a virtual production studio, have spared no expense with the LED panels and hardware, and have created a state-of-the-art brain bar with the latest technology available.

The VP stage will be mainly used for short-form content (marketing/advertising shoots) and is set to go live in Mid-Feburary 2023. They already have major interest from their existing clients who want to book the stage for shoots.

Owing to this, they have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Unreal Artist/Technical Director to join their team.

Responsibilities

Working closely with the Virtual Production team, you’ll be responsible for creating demonstration materials, testing client content, and running workshop content. During production, you’ll work with the client’s creative artists from the production team to assist in loading client content.

  • Build and assemble CG environments in Unreal Engine 4.5/5.
  • Oversee and produce 2D and 3D plate environments for Virtual Shoot when UE 3D environments are unnecessary.
  • Use appropriate tools to simulate a real camera in UE 4.5/5.
  • Provide technical support as it relates to Unreal Engine and virtual set design.
  • Operate UE on set during Virtual Production Shoot.
  • Create per-visualization renders to be utilized to create presentations for clients, storyboards and VFX breakdowns.
  • Interact with other related departments/clients, including Creative and Technical teams.
  • Develop internal digital file management protocols and a pipeline.
  • Possess a strong sense of composition, staging, and blocking.
  • Strong communication skills, organized and detail‑oriented.
Qualifications

To qualify for this opportunity, the company is looking for an experienced Unreal Artist/Technical Director with experience working on Virtual Production projects.

The successful Unreal Artist/Technical Director will have detailed experience in Unreal Engine with the ability to load, manage and manipulate real-time content within the engine. You’ll also be able to generate 3D content in other DCC packages, such as Maya, to be imported into Unreal Engine.

Opportunities

In return for these skills, you’ll work on groundbreaking projects using cutting‑edge technology with global powerhouse brands. As the studio expands in the coming months, the role also offers the opportunity to build and lead your own teams.
