Job description

The opportunity

Unity is building the next generation game creation platform, changing how games will be built over the next five years. Join us and help create a product that will enable game developers to bring their ideas to life in an entirely new way.

As a Staff Software Engineer on our gaming AI team, you will be responsible for leading the delivery of cloud services and features that power this platform. This is new and challenging work at the center of Unity's AI direction.

What you'll be doing
  • Designing and delivering cloud-based services and cloud features for the next generation game creation platform

  • Building front-end features as part of performant full-stack systems

  • Optimizing cloud services for scalability and performance

  • Applying cloud service design patterns and architecture experience to cloud applications

  • Using agentic AI tools (such as Claude Code) as a core part of your daily engineering work

  • DevOps work: CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, database maintenance.

  • Driving technical direction within the team and building alignment with leadership

  • Collaborating with the AI, infrastructure, and data teams

What we're looking for
  • Familiar with GCP services, optionally familiar with Azure.

  • Familiar with K8s / KCL

  • Strong interest in game development with AI

  • Experience delivering scalable cloud services and cloud-based features

  • Understanding of cloud service design patterns and architecture experience with cloud applications

  • Experience designing performant full-stack systems, including frontend / cloud services / devops

  • Expertise in using AI developer tools (such as Claude Code) in your daily work, and a dedication to building your career path with these tools

  • Ability to drive technical direction within a team and align with leadership on strategic vision

You might also have
  • Game development experience, or a passion for gaming

  • Knowledge of cloud infrastructure

Gross Annual Salary: $200,400 - $260,500

This range reflects the anticipated base salary for this position. Beyond base salary, this role may be eligible for equity awards and participation in our company incentive plans (such as annual discretionary bonuses or sales commissions). The final offer amount will depend on several factors, including geographic location and the candidate's relevant experience, professional background, and skill set.
