The House Supervisor is responsible for supervision of hospital activities and coordination between patient care areas and other departments for the delivery of safe and appropriate patient care for a specific shift.

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinates care across the continuum, including planning and implementing clinical protocols and practice management guidelines, monitoring care, and serving as an expert resource in specialty area for clinical practice. In partnership with nursing leaders, contributes to the development and review of care protocols, policies, and procedures that promote an organized and effective program.

  • May provide managerial oversight for program personnel, assist in annual strategic planning and budgetary planning, and act as a consultant/liaison for various stakeholders.

  • Provides ongoing evaluation of program effectiveness and efficiency. Develops and maintains the process improvement program, monitors clinical outcomes and quality of care, and outlines corrective actions. Involved in patient experience efforts and monitors patient perception of care quality.

Schedule:

  • Days

  • Can choose between Five - 8hr Shifts or Four - 10hr Shifts

  • Call Shifts required

  • Eligible for Call Shift Differential plus Base Pay!!!

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in state of practice.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for Healthcare Providers

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution (degree will be verified). Registered Nurses (RNs) hired or promoted into this role must obtain their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within four years of hire or promotion date. If there is an existing education agreement, that agreement will take precedence.

  • Demonstrated expertise in disease specific care.

  • Proven applicable nursing experience over several years.

  • Demonstrated experience with quality management programs including registry data collection.

  • Proficient in computer skills, including creating graphs, tables, and trend reports.

  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills, data organization, management, and analysis skills.

  • Demonstrated experience in educational program development.

Preferred:  

  • 3-5 Years Ortho or Neuro Surgery Circulating Experience in a Level I or II hospital setting

  • At least one year RN coordinator or Charge RN experience

  • Current specialty certification(s) as appropriate for unit or service  

  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.

  • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.

  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.

  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.

  • Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).

  • May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
