Our ONU RN's play a key role in providing the highest quality of patient care while the patient is in at Union Health. 3EA is a surgical unit specializing in the care of patients who have undergone total joint replacement surgery, fractures that may or may not need surgical intervention, spine, and urology surgeries. This unit includes the Total Joint Replacement Center. 3EA is dedicated to providing comprehensive education to ensure the best possible recovery at home.
This unit is led by Nursing Care Manager, Amanda Barnett. She has been with Union Health since 1997 and has been leading this unit since 2012.
Essential & valuable nursing skills gained on this unit:
  • Care of the surgical patient post-operative to discharge
  • Care of CVAD, Midlines, and PICC lines
  • Wound vac and wound care
  • Nasogastric tube insertion and maintenance
  • Care of orthopedic patients
  • Care of brain and spine surgeries
  • Care of any urological patients
  • Foley insertion and care of CBI
  • JP, Hemovac, and Accordian drain care and maintenance
  • Blood product administration

RN Job Details:
Essential Job Duties:
  • Collaborates with the physician or manager to determine needs of patients
  • Completes the routine physical assessment using common assessment skills in a systematic manner.
  • Contributes to plan of care for pre-defined patient problems.
  • Respects patients' rights, including the right to inform, privacy, confidentiality, and the right to refuse care.
  • Assists with patient education to promote self-care and patient independence.
  • Follows company policies and procedures and department protocols.
  • Assists the physician with special procedures.

Qualifications:
  • Graduate from an accredited ASN or BSN program
  • Must have Indiana RN license
  • Previous RN experience preferred

License/Certification:
  • BLS certification
  • IN RN license
