Patient Care Technicians play a key role in providing the highest quality of patient care while the patient is at Union Health.
The Emergency Department at Union Hospital provides emergency care for patients of all ages, treating various common illnesses and injuries, and performing immediate treatment and lifesaving procedures in all types of emergency situations. The department also serves as the initial access point for their Certified Primary Stroke Center, Accredited Chest Pain center with PCI, and Verified Level III Trauma Center.

Patient Care Technician Details

Essential Job Duties:

  • Collaborate with RN staff to assess patients' needs and report concerns.
  • Assist in developing and modifying care plans, prioritize patient problems, and perform medical tasks.
  • Provide patient education, follow policies, respond to emergencies, and act as a patient advocate while respecting rights and confidentiality.
  • Evaluate interventions, maintain professionalism, and seek assistance when needed.
     

Qualifications:

  • Basic medical knowledge and patient care procedures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a healthcare team.


License/Certification:

Candidate must have one of the following:

•     Valid Indiana CNA license, or

•     Agree to complete the Union Health PCT Training program upon hire.

•     Must be certified in healthcare provider BLS upon hire.
