Job description

Join our Children's Services team at the Allen County Public Library's main branch as a Full-Time Branch Assistant. Located in downtown Fort Wayne, this onsite position not only allows you to support children and their families but also offers the chance to work in a vibrant, fun-filled environment that values teamwork and inclusion.
Pay for this position ranges from $14.05 to $16.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. The schedule is a flexible 40 hours per week, which includes days, nights, and weekends.

What You'll Do
As a Branch Assistant, you'll help create a welcoming and positive experience for children and families. Responsibilities include:
  • Supporting Children's Services operations and maintaining an inviting environment
  • Assisting patrons with checking materials in and out
  • Helping customers locate books, materials, and resources
  • Issuing new library cards and updating patron accounts
  • Processing payments and explaining library fees
  • Answering questions in person, by phone, and via email
  • Assisting with holds and requested materials
  • Monitoring returned items and routing them appropriately
  • Providing information about children programs, services, and events
